TREM Devotional – Don’t Insult Leaders

Wisdom For The Day Devotional 20 April 2023 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo: Don’t Insult Leaders

TOPIC: Don’t Insult Leaders (TREM Devotional 20 April 2023)

“… I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has. So take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer on your behalf. I will not treat you as you deserve, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has.” Job 42:7-8 (NLT)

MESSAGE:

Despite what Job was going through, he was still called a servant of God. God still honoured and respected His hand upon his life. Leaders make mistakes! Leaders fall! But that does not remove the fact that they have been anointed for the work of the Lord. So, you must be very careful about the way you handle leaders.

These days, I see a trend on social media that ought not to be. I see people insulting every person and calling people by name and they say they are working for God. I feel for them because they clearly do not know what they are doing.

Go and study the Bible! With all the mess of David, God still called David a man after His heart. And God went further to designate a particular aspect of Mercy in David’s name: The Sure Mercies of David. Be careful! You are not God!

I fear for such young men and young women who are on social media and calling out men of God who have toiled and opened the atmosphere in their respective cities. These ministers of God served and laboured when there was nothing to show for it. Today, you are calling them names. You are calling them unpleasant names and you say you are working for God. It is a dangerous thing to do.

Be careful! Don’t let the devil cut you short before your time. God respects authority. Who told you that leaders don’t make mistakes? Your assignment is to pray for leaders. Don’t vilify them! Notice how God honours authority. God sent them back to Job saying Job “will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer on your behalf” Be careful.
