TREM Devotional – Follow The Example Of Jesus

Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Wisdom For The Day Devotional 26 February 2024 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Follow The Example Of Jesus

TOPIC: Follow The Example Of Jesus (TREM Devotional 26 February 2024)

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38 (KJV)

MESSAGE:

Anywhere Jesus went, He was doing good. That’s exactly what we are called to do. “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18 NKJV). Jesus went about doing good. Follow His example! Jesus wasn’t defrauding people! Jesus wasn’t sexually molesting people because of a position of advantage, whether as a boss or lecturer. If others are doing such wicked things, you shouldn’t join them. You are not others. You are sent to represent Jesus. Be an example to others in your sphere of influence.

Your car carries stickers saying, “Jesus Is Lord” and “Jesus Is The Same Yesterday, Today, And Forever.” Yet you are breaking traffic rules and causing the police to arrest you on the highway or get tickets for breaking traffic laws. Jesus didn’t set such an example for us. Always remember that you are a child of glory and have been called to make a formidable impact in your world.

To follow the example of Jesus, you must embrace a life of integrity. Integrity is a basic ingredient if you desire to live a life of impact, just like Jesus did. Integrity simply means you have a heart that seeks to do the right thing. God is seeking for men and women of integrity. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” (II Chronicles 16:9 NKJV)

You are still human, so God is not saying you must be perfect. He is saying, however, that even if you mess up, it should be a matter of the head, not of the heart. It is the heart that we are talking about. Your intentions and desires originate from the heart. Grace is not a license to live anyhow. Rather, Grace teaches us to follow Christ’s example. If you claim that grace leads you into sin, then you have not known grace.
