TREM Devotional – Run To God For Refuge

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 17 January 2022 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Run To God For Refuge

TOPIC: Run To God For Refuge

“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask the help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.” 2 Chronicle 20: 3-4 (KJV)

It is one thing to choose the battle you want to fight. But it is another thing entirely when the battle breaks into your space uninvited. It chose to break in on you and you can’t stop it. You can’t pray it out and you can’t fast it out. What do you do when you find yourself in such a situation? How do you handle it when the enemy chooses you? What do you do when the enemy decides to invade your life? When the enemy broke in on Jehoshaphat, he was afraid. Sometimes, it is good to be afraid. But what you do with the fear is what now counts. What you do when you are afraid is what determines what comes out.

But I thank God for Jehoshaphat. His fear drove him to the church. His fear drove him to God. Child of God, the time of crisis is the time to be vitally connected to God. “And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.” (2 Chronicles 20:13 KJV). There was no exemption! All Judah stood before the Lord, both rich and poor, big and small, white and black, yellow, illiterate and educated.

There is a vital lesson for the believer in this account. When the enemy breaks in on you, run to God for help. It is the time to stand before the Lord. It is the time to look away from yourself and look unto Jesus. “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” (Psalms 34:5 KJV). All Judah stood before the Lord and they began to pray. And I love the prayer they offered: “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” ( 2 Chronicles 20:12 KJV). And God heard their prayers and delivered them miraculously. The Lord that helped Jehoshaphat and his people in their hour of need will help you.
