TREM Devotional – Your Words Should Carry Power

Wisdom For The Day Devotional 17 July 2023 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo: Your Words Should Carry Power

TOPIC: Your Words Should Carry Power (TREM Devotional 17 July 2023)

“Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” – Ecclesiastes 8:4 (KJV)

MESSAGE:

We are called to be like Christ. That is the ultimate goal of Christianity. Our primary focus should be to be like Christ, and it should be seen in our deeds and our speech. It is only then that what we say will produce power and impact our world.

We are ordained by God to change our world and it starts with the spoken word. The right word spoken in its season will always produce great results. The book of Proverbs 4:20-23 says: “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.” (Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV). The Word of God brings healing to our bodies and changes us.

The book of Colossians 4:5-6 admonishes us saying: “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

Grace is the unmerited, unearned, and undeserved favor of God. It means that the person did not deserve it, but I season what I want to say with grace because I am a life dispenser. Think of what our world will be like if every person in the church who comes in contact with this type of message begins to do this. Your word will come alive and become powerful. When the words you speak are seasoned with grace, they will produce power.

You see, it is not about how loud you rebuke the devil. It is about the depth of your understanding of the word of God. It is the transforming power that changes people and brings their lives in conformity with the character of God. God is still God. His word is still powerful. But we are mostly misrepresenting Him. The word that comes out of our mouth does not represent His words.
