Nigerian-British gospel singer, songwriter, and recording artiste Kasope is out with a deeply personal new single titled “Bámiṣé,” meaning “Help Me” or “Do It For Me” in Yoruba.
Known for blending soulful melodies, heartfelt worship, and honest storytelling, Kasope uses Bámiṣé to turn a personal season of grief, uncertainty, and dependence on God into a powerful prayer set to music.
The song carries a simple but heartfelt cry: “Bámiṣé, Lord, help me.” It speaks to those moments when life becomes difficult, words fail, and all a believer can do is look to God for strength and direction.
Following the passing of his mother in 2019, the singer found himself facing the difficult question of what life would look like without the woman he describes as his biggest fan and encourager. He had already written the chorus of Bámiṣé before her passing, but the verses and bridge would later take shape over the six years that followed.
Reflecting on that period, Kasope shares that his silent thoughts were, “What now becomes of my life after my mother, who was my biggest fan and encourager, is gone?”
That experience became part of the inspiration behind the song and ultimately drew him to the prayer, Bámiṣé asking God for help when he could not find the answers himself.
Produced by Olaitan Dada, the song captures Kasope’s ability to turn real-life experiences into music that people can connect with. It is not simply a song about struggle; it is a reminder that even in seasons of uncertainty, it is okay to cry out to God and depend completely on Him.
A former member of the gospel group Made In Heaven, Kasope continues to carve his own path as a distinctive voice in contemporary gospel music. His previous songs, including “Nothing’s Impossible for You,” have also reflected his journey of processing faith and life through music.
