Topic: What About Talent? [Friday March 24, 2017]
“And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.” (Genesis 4:4-5)
Talent is the unusual innate ability that one possesses in a field or activity of life. It takes talent to be a good children teacher. It takes talent to sing well. When you use your talent in the house of God, you offer a good sacrifice. Ron Kenoly is very popular and travels all over the world for concerts. But he always makes sure he returns to lead choruses in his local church in California. Irrespective of his popularity, he is still the chorus and worship leader of his local assembly. Now, that is sacrifice!
Everyone has needs. Yes! You spend money on your personal clothes and food, which is okay. But when you spend your money on God’s work and for the good of your neighbour, then you have offered a good sacrifice. Some people would not put anything on the altar yet they always would cry to God. “O God, do my own for me now.” You have no right to cry to God when you have no sacrifice on his altar. What do you want the altar to present to God?
Did you know that you could have sacrifice on the altar and God would not accept it? God is not obligated to accept every sacrifice. The story of Cain and Abel makes this clear. God accepted the sacrifice of Abel but rejected the sacrifice of Cain. We are referring to the same God and the same altar. But one sacrifice was accepted and the other rejected.
May God accept your sacrifices and answer you speedily today.
WORD OF WISDOM: He needs to accept you before He looks at your sacrifice.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: In the name of Jesus, O LORD, accept me, accept my sacrifice, and answer me speedily. My sacrifices must not count for nothing.
