Read: Ephesians 4:11-13
Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
MEMORISE: As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17)
EXPOSITION
The Scripture reveals to us, as Christians, that each of us has been given a certain gift/talent to work with. God poured out His grace on us, so that we may slip it over on others who are in dire need of it. We are admonished to minister to others with whatever gift, power and skill God gives us. This gladdens the heart of every heavenly-conscious soldier of Christ, glorifying God with what He has deposited inside of us. Are you called to be an/a apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher, evangelist, administrator, chorister, instrumentalist, usher, children worker, etc.? Do it as the grace/ministry given to you by God. The gifts of Christ are intended for the good of His people, to bring into orderly spiritual state those who have been dislocated and disjointed by sin, to build up the Church, and to be fulfilled in ministry (Eph. 4:11-14).
Dear reader, having used your gift to bless others, are you also being ministered to by the ministration of others? Are you only available in church when you are to minister? Don’t always pour yourself into the life of others without allowing others to bless you. None possesses all the spiritual gifts. A river that flows out without any connection to a source soon dries off. Make yourself available to be ministered to, blessed and equipped the more by others’ ministration.
A chorister or instrumentalist who, after discharging his/her duty, seldom pays attention to other aspects of the service is missing out. A Sunday school teacher whose only interest is to teach his/her class without being equipped through others’ ministries – books, preaching, teaching, prayer, etc., cannot grow. A pastor who is only interested in studying to deliver sermons without humbly staying under others’ ministration won’t grow evenly. You do yourself a great deal of good by getting insights from others’ ministrations.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Heavenly Father, help me to discover Your mind for me in the ministration of other people.
2. Open me up and destroy every spirit of self-dependency in me, O Lord.
3. Pray for CAC Adelaja Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
