CAC Living Water Daily Devotional | Friday, November 19, 2021 | Do Not Hold On To Sin
Topic: Do Not Hold On To Sin
Date: Friday, November 19, 2021 -World Toilet Day
Read: Isaiah 1:15-25
Isaiah 1:15-25 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
MEMORISE: I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity have not hidden. I said, “1 will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin (Psalms 32:5)
EXPOSITION
One of the greatest hindrances to receive answer to prayer is sin. Anyone who has refused to accept Jesus as Lord is deeply in sin and not until they seek God for forgiveness and total repentance, their sins remain unforgiven, and God does not listen to sinners, except when they are ready to repent (Psalm 66:18). Sin is also one of the barriers to prayer in the life of a Christian, especially the un-confessed sin. God cannot look upon sin (1 Jn. 1:9; Jn. 9:31).
Confession of sin is not a once in a lifetime event for a Christian. We must daily ask Jesus Christ to forgive us all our sins, whether commited erroneously or through our weaknesses. The Bible tells us of the devastating effect of sin upon our prayer (Isa. 59:1-2).
It is high time you got rid of sin in your life just as you usually empty your bowel in the toilet this day being World Toilet Day, since you are a child of God. The Bible says sin shall have no dominion over them again. Through Jesus Christ and His atonement, you have been delivered from the devil, sin and the world. There is no condemnation for you any longer because you no longer walk in the flesh but in the Spirit (Rom. 8:1).
This does not mean devil is no longer after your soul to destroy you and make you miss the eternal kingdom of God he has missed. You must wrestle with sin to the point of bloodshed, if you must be victorious (Heb. 12:4). That is exactly what the likes of Joseph and the three Hebrews did. Go and do likewise today, and always.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, give me victory over sin and the devil.
2. I refuse to use sin as toy again in my life, in Jesus’ name.
3. Lord, deliver Your fold from all sorts of atrocities, such that shouldn’t be mentioned among even unbelievers.
