CAC Living Water Daily Devotional | Thursday, December 16, 2021 | Love Beyond The Physical
Date: Thursday, December 16, 2021
Read: Matthew 5:43-47
Matthew 5:43-47 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?.
MEMORISE:
But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them (Luke 6:32).
EXPOSITION
God demonstrates for greatest love for humanity as stated in the Scripture: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life’ (Jn. 3:16). Jesus also commanded us to love our enemies. This means that God wants His children to love everybody. If the Lord could say, ‘Love your enemies’, nobody should be exempted from our love. Why is love (practical love) not in the gathering of belevers again? It is difficult for members of certain local church to express godly kind of love to one another. It is also difficult for the members of a certain denomination to express biblical kind of love to people from another denomination. How can such people express the love of God to those who do not come to church at all?
If you want to love your enemies, this kind of love goes beyond the physical realm. It is not easy for a carnal man to do this. You have to see beyond the physical. You don’t need to look at what a person does for you, before you express godly kind of love to Him or her. If you love those that love you, what credit is that to you. It means that you are not better than the unbelievers. You are not better than the sinners (Matt. 6:46). Love beyond the physical can make you to overlook many things in the life of brethren or any other persons.
You cannot be a son of your Father in heaven, if you cannot love beyond the physical (Matt. 5:45). God Himself loves those who do not show love to Him in any way. He makes sun to rise on them. He makes rain to fall on the evil and good people of the world. Why do you have people that you will never greet in you church, in your house, in your place of work, in your community, etc. To be son of the Father in heaven, learn to see and love beyond the physical.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, give me capacity to love the way You do in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, help me to express your Love to all the people in the world.
3. Lord, help our spiritual leaders to be examples of godly love in our soclety.
