Read: Matthew 24:37-44

Matthew 24:37-44  But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

MEMORISE: Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left (Matthew 24:40)

EXPOSITION

The Church is matching on. Hallelujah! Almost all the local assemblies have attendance registers where they know how many worshippers attend their churches every Sunday, how many communicants take the Holy Communion, and want to see the numbers grow up. That is great! Population is the total number of people who live in a place regardless of colour, height, age, etc. In our churches, whose attendance do we keep? Are they sheep or goats, wheat or tares, good fishes or bad ones?

Though, the Lord commands us to go into all the nations to bring souls into His kingdom, but how we gather these souls is of paramount importance. How are we populating our churches? Hope they are not aggrieved members of other assemblies that we dismembered. The danger is that, very soon, they will also move out to form another church. So many have their names on different registers just like the National Population Census that is fake, for many names appear on lists that don’t exit, or better still, they are in multiples. Authorities talk of ghost names. Of importance is the gatherer and the gathered. What do we gather and to whom are we gathering? So, the personality of the preachers as well as their focus is very important. Many ministers enter the occult world just to see their churches populated. Surely, they have not gathered for, and unto Jesus, but for themselves and Satan. Oh! They will have their portion in the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8).

For the souls gathered into the church, are we after the eternal life, or there to share the ‘National cake’? Jesus tells His disciples never to rejoice for the devil’s falling down before them, but rejoice because they have their names written in the Book of Life (Lk. 10:17-20). That accounts for the wrangling and troubles in the church, even among the workforce. Where do wars come from (Jas. 4:1)? Our minds must first be set right, after which our priorities are channelled in the right direction. Know that on the last day, ‘one will be taken and the other left’. You will not be left behind, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, I receive the grace to seek nothing else but You alone and Your kingdom.

2. O Lord, help ministers of the gospel, worldwide, to set our priorities right as we labour in the vineyard.

3. Father, remove the bad fishes who refuse to turn “a new leaf” from our midst before they further pollute Your Church.
