Seeds of Destiny 15 May 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Dealing With Unforgiveness
Topic: Dealing With Unforgiveness [Tuesday May 15, 2018]
Scripture: And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26.
Thought For The Day: Remembering that you have been forgiven by God is key to forgiving others.
Previously, we identified that unforgiveness is dangerous to Christian life and destiny fulfilment: Unforgiveness prevents people from receiving forgiveness from God, hinders the effectiveness of prayer and attracts the assignment of tormentors and leads people to eternal damnation.
Having seen these dangers of Unforgiveness, it is important to always forgive when offences come.
Now, what should you do in order to be able to forgive others?
- Remember that you have been forgiven by God
Remember that you would not be able to stand if God should count your iniquities; you are not perfect before God and since He has forgiven you, you should also forgive others (Psalm 130:3-4). Remembering that you have been forgiven by God is key to forgiving others.
- Remember that your eternity is at stake
Remember that playing with Unforgiveness is playing with hellfire. To refuse to forgive is to agree to end in hellfire.
- Receive grace from God
Grace is the capacity to do what you could not have done by yourself. In Titus 2:11-12, the Bible says, For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Every time it becomes difficult to forgive an offender, apply for the grace of God. Make up your mind not to harbour bitterness; release the person from your heart totally and forgive him/her. Receive the grace to forgive now in Jesus’ Name.
Remember this: Remembering that you have been forgiven by God is key to forgiving others.
Assignments:
1. Always remember that you have been forgiven by God in order to forgive others.
2. Always ask for God’s grace to forgive others.
3. Do not jeopardize your eternity; forgive every offender.
Prayer: O Lord, thank You for forgiving me all my offenses. Help me to have this consciousness always in order to forgive other people, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
