TOPIC: The Secret Of A God-Centred Life (Seeds Of Destiny 14 July 2026)
SCRIPTURE: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? – Psalm 42:1-2
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Unquenchable passion for God is the foundation of authentic spirituality.
MESSAGE
From our anchor scripture, we see David as a man whose soul was deeply thirsty for God, the living God. The longing of his heart was an intense desire to come into the Presence of God. This shows us that true spiritual hunger is not satisfied by anything else other than God Himself.
The Psalmist also says in Psalm 63:1–2, O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.
The question is, who and what do you love above everyone and everything else in your life? What do you hunger for? What do you yearn for?
Job 23:12 says, Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Many people grew up with passion and hunger for God, but life happened and they lost the passion; they lost their hunger. The focus shifted from God to what to eat, what to drink, how to make money, how to outshine others, etc. Prayer becomes a struggle, and study of the Word becomes a formality. At this point, there is nothing deep calling the person towards God anymore.
In the physical realm, when a person loses their appetite for food, it is a sign of illness. In the same manner, when there is no hunger for God or desire for spiritual things, it is a spiritual sickness. Some people come alive for football, money, fashion, and politics, but when it comes to God, they are tired, yawning, and checking the time. The same person who cannot stay awake in church can watch a movie series for hours without blinking. The same person who is excited about everything else becomes weak when it comes to God. This is what has happened to our generation.
Yet, God is still saying today, Draw near to me, and I will draw near to you (James 4:8). However, some people’s hearts are far from Him because other things have taken His place in their lives.
2 Corinthians 5:15 says, And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
Beloved, authentic spirituality begins with a die-less passion for God. When God is at the centre of your life, His blessing will naturally follow. This is a life that is completely centred on God. A life where decisions are made with God at the centre. A life in which you refuse anything that can destroy your relationship with God. If it will destroy your walk with God, it is not for you. That is the beginning of true spirituality.
REMEMBER THIS: Unquenchable passion for God is the foundation of authentic spirituality.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Rekindle your hunger and passion for God.
- Maintain a clear and living conscience.
- Make God the centre of your life.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to maintain a burning passion for You so I can live a God-centred life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
