Topic: The Necessity of Knowledge [Tuesday January 24, 2017]
“… It came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.” (2 Chronicles 13:15b)
The word smote as used above has many meanings, amongst which are to strike, to stop, and to cut down. So, God struck, stopped, or cut down Jeroboam. As a matter of fact, 2 Chronicles 13:16 says it all: “… and God delivered them into their hand.”
God permitted Abijah and Judah to defeat Jeroboam and Israel. God joined forces with Abijah to fight and defeat Abijah’s enemies. By extension, there is no hiding place for anyone that God is against. The amusing thing is that before the war, the strength of Jeroboam’s army was double that of Abijah’s (2 Chronicles 13:3).
Why did Jeroboam suffer defeat at the hand of Abijah? It’s because God was against Jeroboam, who was disobedient and undisciplined. But Abijah was his direct opposite. So God was for him.
I pray in the name that is above every other name: As you move on in 2017, God will not join your enemies to fight you. Rather, He will be for you.
“… If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31b).
Accordingly, even if everyman is against you and God is on your side, you have the majority. You have the army of heaven on your side. Your God is the almighty God and He is on your side. Power is on your side. The anointing is on your side. Anybody who fights against you will fall for your sake.
WORDS OF WISDOM: There is no hiding place for any man that God is against.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Father, join me to fight with and defeat my enemies. Deliver them into my hands, in Jesus’ name.
