Depending On God For Victory ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

Topic: Depending On God For Victory [December 4, 2016]

Text: 2 Samuel 5:11-25

Key Verse: “And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand” (2 Samuel 5:19).

When Samuel Chad Wick yielded himself utterly to God, he said: “There came into my soul a deep peace, a thrilling joy and a new sense of power. My mind was quickened. Every power was alert. Either illumination took the place of logic, or reason became intuitive. My bodily powers also were quickened. There was a new sense of spring and vitality, a new power of endurance and a strong man’s exhilaration in big things.

Things began to happen. What we had failed to do by strenuous endeavour came to pass without labour. It was gloriously wonderful”. David knew that his greatness came only from God in an environment where other heathen kingdoms around him attributed their greatness to power, conquest, armies and wealth. Hence, he was always asking for God’s guidance before taking a major decision against any enemy kingdom that rose up to confront him. Although David was favoured, successful and loved by his people, he gave God first place in his life and conducted the affairs of the kingdom in complete reliance on Him.

True greatness is having a close relationship with God and bringing our ambition under His control. However, although David sincerely sought after God, he had weaknesses like any other person who lived before the dispensation of grace. One of those weaknesses was his desire for women. Sadly, the children from these women caused his kingdom much grief. God is completely against polygamy or any other immoral act. The supportive effort of Hiram, king of Tyre is highly inspired. This king sent messengers to David with cedar trees and carpenters and masons who built him a house. This was a great motivation to David which gave assurance that God was with him. Little assistance may go a big way unknown to us to provoke somebody to good work. Let us not be weary in well doing.

Thought for the day: True greatness comes when under God’s inalienable control.

Satan’s Delicacy? ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Satan’s Delicacy? [Sunday 4, December 2016]

Memorise: Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. Hebrews 12:16

Read: Daniel 1:6-8 (KJV)

6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 17-19, Psalms 116

MESSAGE:

The word ‘delicacy’ is commonly used to describe a food item that is considered highly desirable and usually scarce and expensive. Delicacies often have unusual characteristics, flavours and tastes, thereby attracting the interest of the high and mighty in the society. Meanwhile, the devil uses a delicacy as a potent weapon to bring down his human targets, and it was proven an effective weapon over the years. He successfully used it against Adam and Eve, Esau, etc. However, Godly people like Daniel know that delicacies have the potential to defile a child of God, especially when offered as bait from the devil. I pray that you will never fall for any attractive proposition of the devil in Jesus’ name.

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”Psalms 19:8

When oil is pure, it makes the lamp burn brightly. When a candle light burns, and it comes across something impure, it suddenly goes dim, or off. If you do not want to dim or quench the Spirit of God in you, keep off every form of defilement. Evil thoughts will hinder the free move of God in your life. Acts of disobedience, self-will and insubordination to authority are capable of putting out the fire of the Spirit in you.

Christians are the brides of Christ, therefore, God expects us to maintain our purity. Psalms 119:1 says:

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.”

The undefiled resists temptation and is without sin like Jesus was (Hebrews 4:15). If you want to remain undefiled, you must watch against the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-17). To be undefiled, you must remain in God’s way, keeping His commandments. God’s Word and instructions must be the laws governing your life. Are you undefiled? How pure are you? No matter how pure or undefiled you may be; there is room to press forward for a greater, higher and closer walk with God. Are you ready to pant after more of God in your life?

Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, I refuse to fall for the devil’s trick, please help me to maintain my purity.

A Calm Delight ~ Joyce Meyer

joyce-meyer

Topic: A Calm Delight [December 4, 2016]

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy. — Psalm 16:11

When you consider joy, you may immediately think about one of those bubbly people you know who is “up” all of the time, and perhaps you are not like that. I’m not like that either. But for those of us who tend to be more serious, it is important that we also learn how to have fun, to cut loose, and lighten up a little.

What is joy and what is joy based on? Joy is defined as “a shout; a proclamation that can manifest in singing; a calm delight.” Your joy is not to be based on your circumstances. Happiness may be based on what is happening to you, but not joy. Joy—a fruit of the Spirit—is like a deep well on the inside of you. It is not the fruit of your circumstance. No matter what you are facing in life, you can have joy in the midst of it. Learn to abide in the midst of a calm delight.

Songwriter, singer and pastor, Wale Adenuga recently released the official video for the song I DEPEND ON YOU.

Every great song has a story behind it. Wale shares how this song came about; “I recall going for a church leaders meeting and my senior pastor shared about how we can lean on what’s stronger than us. That thought stuck. This was on a Sunday afternoon. I woke up Monday morning with that thought still dominant in my head. I stole away into my room and started to write.

Audio + Video: Thankful – Tosin Oyelakin [@TosinOyelakin]

tosin-oyelakin-song-cover-art

Thankful is a song that recounts the good things God has done and encourages listeners to be thankful for life, salvation, and for being counted worthy to be a child of God.

Tosin got the inspiration for Thankful from a place of trying to find reasons for being thankful on the morning of her birthday last December.

Due to difficult circumstances and the death of a dear one, Tosin initially felt at a loss for what to thank God for. However, Tosin felt prompted to dig deep for reasons to be thankful, and out came the lyrics of this song. Thankful’s release on December 3 coincides with Tosin’s 2016 birthday which also is a milestone for her.

This mid tempo RnB gospel track is sure to get you nodding and grooving while being Thankful to God for little things we tend to take for granted.

Thankful is a track following on Tosin’s debut EP ‘You’re Precious‘ which features songs that combine contemporary RnB sounds with deeply inspirational words aimed at bringing comfort and healing to all those who are in need of it.

Christianity Is Based On The Resurrection ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: Christianity Is Based On The Resurrection [Saturday, December 3rd]

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).

If Christianity were all about salvation from sin, there wouldn’t have been the need for Jesus to rise from the dead. His death on the cross would have been enough; it paid for all our sins and guaranteed complete propitiation. However, that’s redemption, and not Christianity!

Redemption refers to saving someone by paying a price. So when Jesus died, He paid the price for man’s redemption with His own life; He did that for all humanity; not for Christians. The Christian isn’t the man that Christ died for. Look at it this way: when Jesus hung on the cross, in the mind of God, we were all hanging there too (in Him), for He was our representative. When He cried out, “It is finished,” and gave up the ghost, we also died in Him.

Now, here’s the big thing, which Satan didn’t see coming and the angels still marvel at, and seek to look into: Christianity is based on the resurrection of Jesus, and not on His death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ gave us something far beyond redemption; it ushered us into a newness of life. We’ve been raised up together with Christ (Ephesians 2:6).

Romans 10:9 says, “…If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” It lets us know that salvation comes by believing in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the subsequent confession of His Lordship. A Christian is one who identifies with the resurrected Christ. The Christian has no past, for the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature”; meaning that he’s a new species; one that never existed before.

No wonder James declares that “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures” (James 1:18). Being born again, therefore, you’re not the “redeemed”; you’re the fruit of the redemptive work of Christ. Redemption was consummated with His death, but Christianity came from the resurrection. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for making me one with Christ. I’m a new creation and I walk in the newness of life, conscious that I’ve been raised together with Christ, and made to sit together with Him in the place of victory, authority, and dominion forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ||

|| Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. ||

Confess Your Miracle Into Reality ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

dsc_1016

Topic: Confess Your Miracle Into Reality [Saturday 3, December 2016]

“And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.” (2Kings 4:21)

I want you to understand that every miracle that is manifested is first formed in the mouth. It is not enough to say I believe in Jesus Christ.; you also have to confess this word. It is not enough to say I believe in Jesus Christ; you also have to confess His word. It is not enough to say I believe in healing, confess your healing. It is not enough to say I believe in victory. You need to speak victory to every situation in your life. It is not enough to believe in success you need to speak, walk and live out success like a child of God.

You may want to say, “Sir, I have been confessing what I believe without results.” You must be consistent about your confession, you may not see the result today or in the near future but you will certainly see it one day and I decree that it will not be delayed.

The miracle is in your mouth. Whatever you are, wherever you are, today is time to put your faith in God’s word to test. Begin to confess positive words about yourself, Education, children, family etc. Note that you need to conscientiously change your confessions from negative to positive. As you confess, God will honour your words and give you a surprise miracle.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: O Lord, by the token of the blood of Jesus cleanse and cancel the effects of any curse in my life either through my own mouth or my parents.

FURTHER READING: Mark 11:23

WORDS OF WISDOM: Confessions will open your heavens but negative ones generate curses.

Crown Of Righteousness ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

kumuyi

Topic: Crown Of Righteousness [December 3, 2016]

Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-8

Key Verse: “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).

A great use of time is to spend it on something that outlasts it. James Waddel was a blind preacher in Virginia, whose eloquence was celebrated in one of the most beautiful pieces of American prose, William Wirt’s “British spy”. When this blind Boanerges lay dying, one of his friends, about to leave him after a visit, expressed his wish that when he came to die, he would have at the back of him for his own comfort, the record of a godly life like that of Waddel. At that, Waddel lifted his hand in protest and declared that if his only comfort were the thoughts of the life which he had lived, he would be wretched indeed, “if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most miserable”.

As he neared the end of his life, Paul could confidently say that he had been faithful to his call. Thus, he faced death calmly knowing that he would be rewarded by Christ. The good news is that the heavenly reward is not just for giants of faith like Paul, but for all who are eagerly looking forward to Jesus’ second coming. Paul gave these words to encourage Timothy and by extension, as many in this contemporary period who remain steadfast in doing the will of God. It is also to those who spread the good news of salvation to others. For those who love the appearing of Jesus Christ, He shall appear for their joy and there is a crown of righteousness reserved for them in heaven. Friend, do not live for the meat that perisheth; live instead for that which will transcend the frontiers of this earthly realm.

Let each day of your life count for eternity. Get involved in the gospel work that will edify the soul of man in time and eternity. Get out of the mindset of living to earn a living, thereby laying for yourselves treasures on earth. Be sure that your earthly vocations are served to glorify Christ only, and to bless humanity.

Thought for the day: There is a crown awaiting those who invest their all in God.

Talk Like God! ~ Kenneth Copeland

kenneth-copeland

Topic: Talk Like God! [December 3, 2016]

Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.  – Mark 11:23

Jesus didn’t say, “Whosoever shall speak to God about this mountain.” He said we should speak directly to the mountain the desired end result.

From a worldly point of view, that sounds foolish. But 1 Corinthians 1:27 explains that God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. It’s always going to sound foolish to the world when a Christian talks as if what God has promised is reality, especially when those promises seem to contradict the natural evidence around us. But if you want to keep the enemy defeated, that’s the kind of talking you’d better be doing.

The Bible says God Himself talks that way! In Romans 4:17, it says, “[He] calleth those things which be not as though they were.” God doesn’t wait for circumstances to line up before He speaks. He causes them to line up because He speaks. You can do the same thing if you’ll make your words agree with His and speak them out of your mouth by faith.

“But what if nothing happens right away?” you may ask. “What if the circumstances don’t immediately change?” When Jesus spoke to the fig tree in Mark 11:14, He didn’t go back and check to see if anything had happened to it. No, once He had spoken it, He considered it done.

Follow His example. Let your faith speak. Agree with God’s Word!

Dealing With Unclean Spirits ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Dealing With Unclean Spirits [Saturday 3, December 2016]

Memorise: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. – Mark 16:16

Read: Matthew 10:1 (KJV)

1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 15-16, Psalms 115

MESSAGE:

Demons are fallen angels that were driven out of heaven because of their rebellious acts. The Bible presents demons as the authentic source of every manner of immorality in this world. Also, demons are the foot soldiers that the devil uses to steal, kill, devour and wreck all manner of evil against humanity. I pray that you will not become an easy prey to the devil and his demons in the Name of Jesus.

However, demons were subject to the authority of Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry and subsequently in the ministry of the Church. Demons and idols bow in the Presence of our God. If you study how demons related with Jesus Christ and His disciples in the Bible, you will observe that they recognized God’s Presence in Jesus Christ and his disciples, and they surrendered without argument. I have always told my spiritual children that if we have enough of His Presence in us, demons will flee when they sight us, how much more when we command them to go out. In Mark 5:1-6, when Jesus stepped on the shores of the Gadarenes, a very notorious, heavily demon-possessed mad man immediately reported to Him even before He said a word. It is very easy to cast out demons when your life is full of God’s glory. When Jesus came to earth, He brought with Him the glory and dominion of Heaven. Consequently, if demons see that same glory of God in you, they will have no choice but to submit to the King of Glory whose Presence you carry.

Until you carry a higher level of His Presence in your life, you may not realize the activities of demons in your environment. Believe it or not, they are everywhere, performing their negative assignments. But as God increases His Presence in your life, there will be commotions, because demons recognize the Presence of God and they won’t be at rest. Even in the church, while God’s anointed Word is being taught in power, demons will not be able to withstand the power. One day, Paul and is co-labourers in God’s vineyard were on their way to a prayer meeting when the spirit of divination in a young lady became restless because of God’s Presence. If only you carry a higher level of His Presence, the demons around you will manifest from wherever they are hiding. Ask God for more of His Presence upon you.

Prayer Point: Father, please baptize me with Your power today in Jesus’ name.

Right from the days of King David, dance has always been a vital key and a commanded route to dominion.

Psalm 149: 3. “Let them praise His name in THE DANCE…”

Who would ever believe that the inspiration for this song ‘Ijoya‘, came during a time of devotion? Well, yes it did and it came with a distinct message:

No matter the surrounding situation, Jeremiah 31:13-14 says:

Then shall the virgin rejoice in THE DANCE, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.”

Gospel act, Tonia Shodunke, is set to create an atmosphere of freedom via dance.

In her words, “The only sure way to take Nigerians and the World at large, off the present economic crisis is dancing and praising our way to Victory!”

So, put on your dancing shoes, as we change the tide of things with the much anticipated video to the Afro Dance Hall song ‘IJOYA,’ directed by the Award winning Videographer, Akin Alabi.
