SCRIPTURE: Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Psalm 119:9
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Word of God helps us to live above sin and the corruption of the world.
MESSAGE:
The Word of God helps us to live above sin and the corruption of the world.
Psalm 119:9, says, Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Now, how do you approach the Word to benefit from its cleansing power and live above sin? How do you handle the Word to experience its cleansing benefits?
1. Study the Word with a learner’s heart.
Approach the Word of God with the heart of a learner. As you study the Word, ask questions like, Lord, What are you saying, Lord? What are you showing me?
Habakkuk 2:1 says, I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. Study God’s Word with the mindset of what you can learn and practice, not just what you can preach. There is a difference between preachers of the Word and practitioners of the Word.
2. Write down what you see from the Word.
I do not consider a person serious enough with God if they do not have a journal to write down their insights and revelations. Jesus says to John in Revelation 1:11,I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, what thou seest, write in a book…
God values the writing down of insights. No wonder, Habakkuk 2:2 says, Write the vision, make it plain…
Every time you write what God is showing you, you provoke more light and insights from Him. By writing, you are demonstrating to God that you value the insight He gives you. When you show God that you are interested in what He is showing you, He will reveal more to you.
Remember this: The Word of God helps us to live above sin and the corruption of the world.
ASSIGNMENT:
- Form the habit of writing down the insights you get from the Word of God.
- Practice what you have written down so you can benefit from it.
PRAYER: Father, I receive the discipline to write down insights from Your Word. Give me the grace to practice the Word, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
