Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 8 May 2025 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Impact Of Thanksgiving
TOPIC: The Impact Of Thanksgiving (Seeds Of Destiny 8 May 2025)
SCRIPTURE: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night. Psalm 92:1-2
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Good people give thanks, but bad people do not know how to say, “Thank you” to anyone.
MESSAGE:
It is confirmed that being able to say, “Thank You” both to God and to man is a rapidly disappearing virtue from the earth today. Husbands find it difficult to appreciate their wives, and wives are finding it difficult to appreciate their husbands. This is because they have an entitlement mentality towards each other. They think whatever the other person does for them is their own entitlement and the other person’s obligation.
2 Timothy 3:1-2 says, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. So, unthankfulness or thanklessness is an end time symptom. But you shall overcome in the Name of Jesus.
Now, what does thanksgiving or appreciation imply?
1. Thanksgiving implies spirituality. Thanksgiving or appreciation communicates spirituality. Spiritual people are thanksgivers (Isaiah 43:21).
1 Peter 2:9 corroborates this when it says, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
So, thanksgiving is a major expression of spirituality. Thanksgiving is in the same category as prayer, the study of the Word, fasting and soul winning. It is spiritual to be thankful.
2. Thanksgiving communicates understanding. It shows the level of someone’s understanding of issues in the realm of the spirit.
Now, what kind of understanding is it? Look at Romans 9:16: So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
It is an understanding of the fact that you are not powerful enough to give yourself the results you see in your life. It is not your education or strength that has kept you alive.
3. Thanksgiving implies generosity or goodness. Thanksgiving is a giving; a thanksgiver is a giver. He gives. It is just that what he gives is thanks. He is a generous person. Good people give thanks, but bad people do not know how to say, “Thank you” to anyone.
Now, what is the impact or effect of thanksgiving?
The manifestation of God. You want to get God into action, give Him thanks (Jeremiah 30:19). You want God to outdo what He did before, give Him thanks; acknowledge what He has done before.
The multiplication of good (John 6:11-12). Everything that is good multiplies around the person who gives thanks. Don’t ever allow the devil to make you focus on what is not working. Be determined to focus on what is working around your life.
The glorification of God’s people. Jeremiah 30:19 says, … And I will glorify them and they shall not be small. The meaning is, I will take shame out of their lives. I will cause them to reach their potential and destiny.
Beloved, if you are trusting God for greater manifestation of His Power, multiplication of good things and glorification of life, be ready to give thanks to God. Be appreciative to both God and man.
Remember this: Good people give thanks, but bad people do not know how to say, “Thank you” to anyone.
