Topic:The Heart Of A Servant [Sunday February 12, 2017]
“And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even asthe Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
(Matt. 20:27-28)
You are called to service. Your service is to God and man, that is, the body of Christ. Is it wise to suffer in this world and go on to suffer in eternity? If you are wise, you will run from the judgment to come. “If any man serves me, let him follow me….” (John 12:26)
The Church is an institution of utmost discipline. A Christian is humble, respectful, and submissive. You must know the place of the pastor in the Church and in your life. The position you occupy in the Church should make you see yourself as a servant of the body, rather than pomp you up. You sow into your own life, not the pastor’s, when you work for God. If you refuse to work for God, He will raise people in your stead. You win when you stay close to the altar.
2 Chronicles narrates that war broke out between Judah, led by Abijah, and Israel, led by Jeroboam. Abijah who had half as many as Jeroboam’s men of war boasted to Israel that because Judah was still close to God’s altar, as opposed to Israel that had forsaken God, Judah would defeat them. Meanwhile, Jeroboam had set an ambush against Judah. Judah cried unto God and “it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah” (2 Chron 13:15).
When you stay close to God’s altar, God will smite the Jeroboam of your life and his army with him. He will smite every negative word spoken against you. No satanic intention will happen in your life.
WORD OF WISDOM: You win when you stay close to the altar.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: O Lord, give me the heart of a servant. Take away rebellious heart from me, in Jesus’ name.
