Topic: The Kind Of People God Makes Great [Monday June 12, 2017]
Scripture: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalms 51:17
Thought For The Day: God does great things with people who cannot take the glory.
It has been established that God specialises in making greatness out of littleness. David was a little, insignificant and neglected boy who God turned into a great man.
Though God is a great God, He focuses on small things in order to make them great. No wonder, David, being the youngest and smallest among his brothers was selected by God to be king while his brothers who were older and bigger were by-passed.
The question is, what kind of people does God make great?
1. People who cannot take the glory: God does great things with people who cannot take the glory. These are people who after experiencing the wonders of God in their lives come to acknowledge that they have nothing that qualified them to be used by God.
- People who remember their small beginnings:
God does great things with people who do not forget their humble beginnings in a hurry. These are people who cannot forget how low, useless or written-off they were and how people had given up on them before God took them to greatness. -
People who can reach out to and relate with the lowly: God does great things with people who have the ability to reach out to and relate with the lowly. David gathered vagabonds and related with them (1 Samuel 21:2).
Beloved, make up your mind to be humble in life. God resists the proud but lifts the humble.
Remember this: God does great things with people who cannot take the glory.
