Dunamis Daily Devotional – The Proofs Of Passion For God

Topic: The Proofs Of Passion For God [Saturday February 10, 2018]

ScriptureAnd Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord: Genesis 19:27

Thought For The Day: It is possible to give without loving but you cannot love and not give.

Previously, we had established that passion for God is the most profitable form of passion in life. We also saw different profits of passion for God.
Now, we are going to look at the proofs of passion for God. That is, how you can know whether your passion is towards God or not.

1. Time investment with God. People spend time with someone they love. They would like to hear their voice and talk with them always. In our text, Genesis 19:27, we see how it was Abraham’s habit to rise up early and stand before God because he was passionate for God. Time investment with God is a proof of passion for God. Show me what consumes your time the most then I can show you what you are passionate about.

  1. Commitment to God’s commandment. John 14:15 says, if ye love me, keep my commandments. God says, if you are passionate for me, do what I say. I cannot claim that I love my wife if she makes a request and I refuse to grant it.

  2. The lifestyle of sacrifice for the cause of God. John 3:16 says, God so loved the world that he gave… (Paraphrased). Love or passion is confirmed by giving. Lovers of God are givers. It is possible to give without loving but you cannot love and not give.

Beloved, if you are too busy, too stingy to give towards the cause of God, it is a proof of bankruptcy of passion for God.

Remember this: It is possible to give without loving but you cannot love and not give.

Assignment (S):

  1. Endeavour to obey God’s instruction even if you do not understand the reason behind the instruction.

  2. Spend quality time with God at the place of prayer, worship and study of the Word.
