Topic: Your Character And The Glory [Friday April 7, 2017]
Scripture: And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. Luke 9:29.
Thought For The Day: Your character speaks more than your utterance.
Character in this context is a set of behavioural attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual. It is confirmed that the quality of a man’s character determines the dimension of glory he can operate in.
From the anchor scripture, Jesus’ raiment was white and glistering. Whiteness represents character while glistering represents glory. This implies that if your life must glitter, your garment must be white. You cannot experience the glory of God without character.
To have character is to exist with a conscience that is void of offence towards God and man. It is living with a conscience that is alive and active. Character means existing with a consciousness of the consequence of one’s actions both in time and eternity.
St. Francis of Assisi of blessed memory said, “Preach the gospel always. When necessary, use words.” This implies that your lifestyle preaches more than your words.
Your destiny in this life and eternity is determined by your character. Joseph’s character was solid and so, he reached his destiny. Adam, on the other hand, ate one fruit that God told him not to eat and lost a whole garden; he lost his destiny. Your character also determines where you will spend eternity.
Beloved, in order to live a glorious life, be determined to work on your character.
Rely on God to show you the areas of your life that need adjustment and improvement.
Remember this: Your character speaks more than your utterance.
