Zeal And His Wrath ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Topic: Zeal And His Wrath [Tuesday March 21, 2017]

“Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them … Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood….”  (Num 25:11-13).

In the Book of Numbers, the children of Israel went astray and began to do the same things that unbelievers do. It got so bad that God became angry and killed twenty-four thousand of them in one day. While Moses and all of Israel were still crying and lamenting the unprecedented slaughter, a Jew, in broad day light, brought into the camp a harlot from the tribe that God instructed them to have no close relationship with.

When Phinehas, Aaron’s grandson saw it, he took a spear in his hand, went into the man’s tent, and thrust it through both the man and his harlot. When God saw what Phinehas had done, He gave him a promise through Moses. It was a covenant of peace.

The covenant of peace means Nothing Missing, Nothing Broken. Nothing missing means Phinehas would not lack any good thing for the rest of his life. Nothing Broken means no one would be able to take away or spoil anything belonging to him. Good as that was, He in addition gave him the covenant of everlasting priesthood. The priest is someone who stands in the presence of God. The implication is that forever, Phinehas would stand in God’s presence, In addition, he would have all his needs met. And no matter how angry God is, He would exempt Phinehas from wrath. Phinehas was a type of Christ.

You are the Phinehas of today. Christ has ensured it. In your life, it will be nothing missing, nothing broken. God is no longer angry with you. You will reign on earth.

WORD OF WISDOM:  You are the Phinehas of today

PRAYER/CONFESSION: LORD, I am zealous for you. I reactivate Your covenant of peace and of everlasting priesthood with me.
