CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – Avoid Disobedience

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional |  Saturday, January 8, 2022 | Avoid Disobedience

Topic: Avoid Disobedience

Date: Saturday, January 8, 2022

Read: Deuteronomy 28:15-68

MEMORISE: But if they do not obey, the shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge Job. 36:12).

EXPOSITION

The act of disobedience is a common phenomenon in our society. Disobedience has no grade; there is no lower or higher disobedience. All acts of disobedience equally cause God pain. Has there been any measuring rod for sin? No! Once you disobey, you are a sinner before the Lord. Disobedience is the act of neglecting, overlooking or refractory.

However, we are surrounded with. Temptations in  our society, in the church, and our workplaces, we need not follow the godless trends others follow. We must show the good and godly example to others in our attitudes through simple obedience. We need to checkmate what we desire and choose, because most of these  of these things lead us out of God’s presence, and the end is death (Jas. 1:14-15).

No disobedient child goes unpunished, because disobedience itself attracts punishment. Things like confusion, conflict, regret, pain, agony, disaster, sickness, turbulence, storms, and many more  are rewards of disobedience. It opens door to all kinds of evil. Don’t forget that you were created by God to live to please Him. The reason for your existence is to obey God.

We are in a generation where people find it easier to disobey God than to obey Him. You are not greater than your creator, and you can’t predict for Him. He knows what is best for you. Blessings are not far from those who obey Him, while agony visits the disobedient. God won’t disappoint those who don’t disappoint Him. There is blessing in obedience, and  curses lie in disobedience (Read Deut. 28:1-end). Every good things of God is rooted in obedience to Him, while disobedience comes with disaster in its wake.

PRAYER POINTS:

1.  I possess the spirit of obedience from now on, in Jesus’ mighty name.

2. O Lord, expunge the spirit of disobedience from me, in Jesus’name.

3. Pray for CAC  Babajide Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Pathway To Wholeness

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 8 January 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Pathway To Wholeness

TOPIC: The Pathway To Wholeness

Progress with God is progress in life. Every step towards God in life equals a thousand steps towards destiny

SCRIPTURE: Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalms 55:17

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Progress with God is progress in life. Every step towards God in life equals a thousand steps towards destiny.

It has been established that solid spirituality is a major facilitator of destiny. Men of solid destinies are also men of solid spirituality. And men of shallow destinies are men of shallow spirituality. So, your spirituality births your destiny.

I will like you to take note of two key thoughts on spirituality.
a. Spirituality is the bedrock of destiny.
If your spirituality is solid, your destiny cannot be shallow. Solid spirituality must translate to solidity of destiny.

2 Chronicles 26:5 makes us to understand that as long as Uzziah sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.

Jotham became mighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord.

2 Chronicles 27:6 says,
So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.

There is no witch or ancestral curse that is strong enough to make a mockery of your destiny if your spirituality is strong.

So, if you are with God, be with God. Be real with God.

b. You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life and destiny (Isaiah 37:31).
Progress with God is progress in life. Every step towards God in life equals a thousand steps towards destiny. The prodigal son took a step towards his father and the father took many steps towards him (Luke 15:20).

When we were growing up in the LORD, people thought that we were wasting our lives by serving God. Almost every young man at that time was partying and doing many other things but God arrested some of us very early in life, and many thought it was a waste serving God. Now, this so called “waste” is what brought us to where we are today and is still taking us to where God wants us to be.

Beloved, determine to refuse spiritual passivity and laxity. Develop a strong and solid spirituality.

REMEMBER THIS: Progress with God is progress in life. Every step towards God in life can equal a thousand steps towards destiny.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Refuse to live a shallow spiritual life.
  2. Develop strong spiritual roots in God.

PRAYER: Lord, I reject anything that will reduce my spiritual intensity and prayer life. I ask for the grace and discipline to develop a solid spiritual life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: THE FORCES OF DESTINY (PT1).

QUOTE: Your spirituality is not for the purpose of luxury; your spirituality determines your immunity. Your spirituality affects your security. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Genesis 41-45

REFLECTION: When you are strong inside, you can’t be weak outside. When you are big inside, you cannot be small outside. Focus on the inner man and the outer man will be taken care of.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION: Grace to take root downwards and bear fruit upwards be released upon you in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – No Time For God?

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 8 January 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — No Time For God?

TOPIC: No Time For God?

TEXT: Exodus 5:1-14 (KJV)

1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.

3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.

6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.

8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.

12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?

KEY VERSE: “And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God” (EXODUS 5:8).

MESSAGE:

Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world, is known to be decidedly non-religious. In a televised interview in 1995, he said he believed in the values derived from religion, though not in the ritual itself. The following year, he drew worldwide criticism, especially from devoted Christians, when he told Time Magazine that he found organised religion a waste of time.

Pharaoh’s attitude and utterances in our text likewise shows complete disregard for God and His worship. When Moses told him to grant the Hebrews leave to enable them go three days into the wilderness to worship God, he was furious. He concluded the people were idle and punished them for thinking of worship and religion. Pharaoh’s officers and taskmasters were given orders to increase the burden and tasks assigned to the Hebrew slaves. They were required to provide straw by themselves to make the bricks. When the Jews could not meet up with the required quantity of bricks, they were flogged mercilessly.

Pharaoh’s response to the demand for the Jews to worship their God was intended to weaken Moses’ leadership of Israel at this time. It was also meant to break the will of the people and force them to submit to him instead of God.

Some organisations use higher pay on Sundays as inducement to make Christians abandon church service to work for more money. We must resist those who think we worship God because we are idle. Our devotion to God comes from the understanding that we are from Him and for Him; and at the end of everything, we will return to Him to give account.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Give God the best, not the rest.

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – The Grace Of The Lord

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional |  Thursday, Friday, January 7, 2022 | The Grace Of The Lord

Topic: The Grace Of The Lord

Date: Friday, January 7, 2022

Read: 2 Corinthians 13:14

MEMORISE:The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (2 Corinthians 13:14).

EXPOSITION

Grace’ is a word that encompasses God’s undiluted love towards mankind. It carries the overall charisma of the unmerited favour of God from creation to the everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. This love and favour is not what any man has worked out or worked for. It is never man’s initiative; it is a divinely arranged package to restore man to God, after the Fall. The grace of God is the only mission from above that had an underground plan, even before the fulfilment became feasible.

The grace of God is for all, but is not accepted by all. There is grace to overcome all forms of temptations, but that is not forced on anyone by God; it is by choice, not by force. You are sent by God to pass through this world and there is the readymade grace to sustain you throughout the journey here on earth. The question is, do you see any need for this grace? Have you discovered, and activated this grace?

There are things you must know, if the grace would be active in, or for you. You must enter into, and maintain a cordial personal relationship with Christ, the Author of the grace. Having known that grace is the expression of God’s love to mankind, this love was not expressed through the angel, or any prophet, but through the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. He died on the cross to take our sin and weakness upon Himself, so that we may have access to His supernatural strength and righteousness (Isa. 53:1ff; cf. 2 Cor. 12:6-9). Are you ready to accept the love expression of God through Jesus, today?

There are innumerable blessings attached to the grace, physically and spiritually, for he who chooses to accept the grace (cf. 2 Cor. 8:9). In addition, these blessings and riches are eternal in nature. You will enjoy more of God’s love if you give your totality to Jesus Christ. Make your choice, now, and begin to enjoy the divine grace.

PRAYER POINTS

1. O Lord, let Your grace speak for me every moment of my life.

2. Lord Jesus, help me not to misappropriate Your grace and take Your liberty for granted.

3. Pray for CAC Babalola Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.

TREM Devotional – He Knows You By Name

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 7 January 2022 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – He Knows You By Name

TOPIC: He Knows You By Name

“To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.” (John 10:3 KJV)

Sometimes because of the challenges of life, you feel rejected, forsaken, and alone. God seems very far off from you, and you feel stranded. Yes, I know at times you feel abandoned, and friends and family seem so far away; it appears that heaven is brass, and earth is iron and your prayers seem unanswered. Hear this: God never jumps ships He knows you by name and deeply cares for you.

I know you have heard that before. I know it may not look like it now, but that has not changed the fact that God loves you. His love for you is beyond words. He will never leave or forsake you. He passionately loves you to the extent that He knows the number of hairs on your head. He knows the number one and number 60 of your hair.

The joy of our relationship with God is that He goes out of His way just to minister to us individually. In John 4:4, He needed to go through Samaria which was not His way just to speak to a woman who had gone through many men and was not satisfied, very few people showed her any concern, but Jesus went out of His way to reach out to her and the encounter she had with Jesus changed her life completely. She became an instant Evangelist spreading the good news (John 4:28-29).

In Mark 5:30-34, He stopped to minister to the woman with the issue of blood. A woman who had lost all hope; even doctors had given up on her. She had been through many physicians and was not getting better, but she encountered Jesus and her story changed.

In Mark 10:46-52, He stopped just to minister to a blind man. I can go on and on to show you that you matter to Him. You are not just a number or face in the crowd. You are highly valued.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Your Affection – A Pathway To Your Destiny

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 7 January 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Your Affection – A Pathway To Your Destiny

TOPIC: Your Affection – A Pathway To Your Destiny

What you love doing is your link to what you would live doing.

SCRIPTURE: Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry. 2 Chronicles 26:10.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: What you love doing is your link to what you would live doing.

It is very important to know that our God is a God of plan and purpose. He does not act randomly; He acts deliberately and objectively. God is not confused about man’s purpose and journey on the earth. God did not create anyone for experimental purposes. He created you not for experiment but for accomplishment. You have a destiny in God, a purpose for your existence.

Now, one of the pointers to knowing that destiny is AFFECTION.

There is a connection between your affection and your destination. There is a connection between what you love and how you live.

In 2 Chronicles 26:10, we understand that because King Uzziah loved husbandry, his cattle multiplied. It is what you love that attacks your lack. Inside what you love can be your favour. Uzziah did not waste his energy on what he did not love. He spent his energy in the direction of what he loved; and as he did that, what he had multiplied.

Today, we have many people struggling on earth and spending their lifetime and energy on what they have no affection for. Frustration is the outcome when you do what you do not have passion for.

Joseph was another person who did what he had affection for. Joseph loved to put smiles on the faces of people. He loved to interpret dreams and that was his link to his purpose.

Genesis 40:1-8 gave us a vivid account of when Joseph, in the prison, interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker. He helped them out of their frustrations and that was his link to his own destiny. Indeed what you love doing is your link to what you would live doing.

Beloved, do not do what you don’t have affection for, and do not ignore your passion; pay attention to them.

REMEMBER THIS: What you love doing is your link to what you would live doing.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Refuse to do anything in life without passion or affection.
  2. Identify your affection and follow it.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to identify and follow my affection, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: PURPOSE AND DESTINY POINTERS (2)

QUOTE: The man who needs fire and passion for whatsoever he has found himself doing needs focus, brutal focus. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Genesis 31-35.

REFLECTION: There is a connection between your passion and your portion. If you follow your passion, you end in your portion. But the most important passion to possess is passion for God.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION: You shall not miss out on your portion in the land of the living in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – Antidote To Despair

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 7 January 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Antidote To Despair

TOPIC: Antidote To Despair

TEXT: Psalm 12:1-8 (KJV)

1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

KEY VERSE: “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him” (PSALM 12:5).

MESSAGE:

The state of the society today has left the world in utter perplexity. Moral values have disappeared, leaving the godly as an endangered specie. It is a situation that has led many into the pit of despondency.

David was not a stranger to such perplexing situations. Overwhelmed by the intrigues of deceivers and flatterers around him, as well as the culture of impunity engendered by wicked administration, he cried out to God for help, in the process, alluding, as Elijah earlier did, that, “the godly man ceaseth” and “the faithful fail from among the children of men”. But as threatening as the situation was, God did not allow him to be consumed by the environment he feared.

The psalmist submits to the settled hope that God will halt the march of the wicked. He is always within reach to rescue the oppressed. “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him…Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” David, as one of the worthies of old, qualifies to attest to the promptness of heaven in coming to the aid of those who run to God when there is trouble.

Our day is not one whit morally better than David’s. He escaped slipping into despair by praying to the Almighty. The same spiritual weapon would avail in our ungodly generation. Believers must not join the ungodly multitudes or slip into despair. We must wait patiently for the Lord’s deliverance as we pray and serve Him in holiness and spread the gospel.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The sickening sinfulness of sinners should never make the saint sink.

When things fail to be in the way they ought to be, there will be suspicion that something is definitely wrong somewhere and sensitive stakeholders will commence finding solution to the situation. There is a popular proverb in Yorubaland, which is translated thus, if the dog that wags its tail at its owner suddenly starts barking at him, there is definitely a cause for alarm! It therefore implies that if you fail to realise the normal usual result of embarking on a course of action, something is not right somewhere! It is wise therefore to look for reasons that has to be!

The Israelites, under the leadership of loshua, were on their way to The Promised Land when they had to defeat Ai, shortly after their God-given heroics concerning the walls of Jericho (Josh. 6:20). The battle with the ‘infinitesimal country ought to be a walk over, for it was a very small country compared to those they had faced and defeated. However, Israel failed before Ai as their men fell terribly before the uncircumcised! What was wrong? Thank God for a sensitive and spiritual leader like Joshua. At once, the responsive leader commenced seeking God’s face because he knew they should not have lost to Ai, of all countries! Joshua’s timely digging deep on the matter produced positive result as Achan, their troubler and causer of disaffection, was exposed and expunged on time! (vv. 24-25).

What a sensitivity! Are you like this? Are you not too relaxed, unbothered and complacent? Some say there is no answer to the question the Psalmist asks in 11:3 “If the foundations are destroyed what shall the righteous do?” The answer is that the righteous has to respond by delving or digging deep into the faulty foundations. There has to be thorough search through timely fasting and prayer with action. The action or step next to the prayer and fasting is to carry out research on the problem. Some of us do not just care to ask questions concerning certain things that continue to happen in our lives! If you don’t ask the right question at the right time, you won’t get to the root of the matter. You must henceforth refuse to allow abnormal things to continue as normal things in your life, home, ministry and business without asking questions with the a view to finding a lasting solution. May every “Achan” in the camp of your life be exposed on time, even as you take proactive measures. Stay victorious, in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, search me through and help me to make necessary amends.

2. Lord, help me to be spiritually sensitive at all times.

3. Lord, expose all “Achans” in churches promoting Satan’s agenda, in Jesus’ name!

TREM Devotional – Nothing Is Too Hard For God

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 6 January 2022 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Nothing Is Too Hard For God

TOPIC: Nothing Is Too Hard For God

‘’Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?’’ (Jeremiah 32: 27 KJV)

It is an insult to God to ever think that there is anything too hard for God. Beloved we are talking about God here. The Possessor of heaven and earth, The Creator of the whole universe who upholds all things by the word of His power. Do you realize that ever before any problem existed, He was already in existence?

It is so interesting that we believe that the moment any person believes that Jesus has died for his sins and rose again that he might be justified, he instantly receives eternal life. We do not think much about that. But we find it difficult to believe God for the healing of a tumor or growth because we think that it is harder than the miracle of Salvation.

Before you laugh it off, that is the truth but let me ask you which one is harder: deliverance from death which meant someone had to die in your stead, or healing which a spoken word can achieve? Yes, for you to be saved, someone had to die. God could not declare a man righteous simply by speaking it because His word cannot be broken and the wages of sin is death. So salvation is more expensive than healing.

Yes, to man, healing may seem difficult, but not for God. “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luke 18:27.

The greatest miracle any man can ever receive is the miracle of salvation which entails plucking us out of eternal damnation and giving to us eternal life. Therefore, healing of your body, prosperity, success, and any other thing we need are nothing before Him. They are all yours if you just believe them. I dare you to believe God today and see the impossible become possible in your life because with God nothing shall be impossible.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Critical Decisions Of Life

Paul Enenche

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 6 January 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Critical Decisions Of Life

TOPIC: The Critical Decisions Of Life

SCRIPTURE: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Philippians 3:13.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Decision determines destination. Decision determines distinction.

It has been established that decision is critical to life and destiny. Decision determines destination. Decision determines distinction. Decision brings deliverance. Decision cures frustration.

Now, the question is: what kind of decision is critical to your destiny?

i. The decision to be everything God wants you to be in this life.
This is when you make up your mind, whether the devil likes it or not, whether the ancestral or generational curses like it or not, that you will become everything God wants you to be in life.

Philippians 3:13 says:
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

You must decide that you will not die a failure and you will not leave this world until you have succeeded. It is deciding to do everything God wants you to do so you can be what you are meant to be.

ii. The decision to know what it takes to be everything God wants you to be in life.
The second critical decision of life is the decision to know what it takes to become everything God created you to be.

Philippians 3:10 says,
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

You must decide to know whatever it takes to be everything God wants you to be in life.

REMEMBER THIS: Decision determines destination. Decision determines distinction.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Break every spell of indecision and indifference in your life.
  2. Make up your mind to be everything God wants you to be and to know what it takes to get there.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You open my eyes to see all that I am meant to be in life. I receive the grace to do what I am meant to do to be all that You want me to be, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: The quality of information a person carries determines the quality of his decisions and actions. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” By Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Genesis 26-30.

REFLECTION:
The worst form of failure on earth is not the failure to make money or the failure to go to school. It is the failure to become everything God has in Mind for you to become.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION:
You are not permitted to leave this world a failure in Jesus’ Name. The Lord engrace you to be everything He has in Mind for you in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – Building Godly Institutions

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 6 January 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Building Godly Institutions

TOPIC: Building Godly Institutions

TEXT: Psalm 11:1-7 (KJV)

11 In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

4 The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

5 The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

KEY VERSE “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).

MESSAGE:

The stability or otherwise of society is traceable to the constitution governing its citizens and their institutions. If the provisions of the constitution, produced after wide consultations with the people and critical stakeholders, reflect the wishes of the subjects and are adhered to by all, the polity stands the chance of a healthy and crisis-free existence, even in tumultuous times.

The legal system during the reign of Saul collapsed, with the king becoming a law unto himself. When he chased David throughout the land to kill him, the young son of Jesse had no legal system to appeal to hear his argument of being innocent of Saul’s accusations.

The believer today must however be assured that although the world’s system may lack the right scales and capacity to dispense justice to the dispossessed, with the state actors sometimes supporting the oppressors, God is “in his holy temple…his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.” The righteous are assured that they do not need to despair when man takes law into his hand and jettisons the rubrics of society. God will always weigh in on the side of His (deprived) righteous people.

As David was defiant in the face of overwhelming trials, insisting he will trust in the Lord for deliverance, the steadfast follower of Christ must also depend on God, who shall “rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest” upon the wicked. God is righteous and He will jealously guard the righteous. Repose your confidence in His awesome power to defend and protect you.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 12-13
