CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – They Needed To Make That Mistake

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional | Wednesday, October 27, 2021 | They Needed To Make That Mistake

Topic:  They Needed To Make That Mistake

Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2021 [World Day for Audio-visual Heritage]

Read: Matthew 2:1-12

Matthew 2:1-12 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,

Saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:

“‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared.

And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.”

After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

MEMORISE:

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, (Matthew 2:1).

EXPOSITION

The wise men (Magi) that came in search of the baby Jesus were from the East (not Jews). Obviously, they were astrologers (strgazers), hence their abilities to follow the leading of the star that took them to Jesus. Unarguably, there was not much of media like we have them today, no radio, TV, internet, etc., even as today commorates World Day for Audio-visual Heritage. How would the news about the arrival of the Messiah on the planet earth spread fast without these advanced methods? God chose to first announce it from heaven, to and through a team of shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night (Lk.2:8b). Then He visited the gentle world starting with the Magi.

The star had been leading them from the East, but seemed to have stopped as they came to Jerusalme (Matt.2:1), only to reappear as they departed from the wicked kings presence (v.9). Ordinarily, one would have thought that losing sight of the star made them to miss road as they were forced to visit the palace. But, No, God allowed it.

Their presence in the palace actually caused the king  and his people to go into research as to the Scriptural revelation about the coming Messiah. In a way, God was using the supposed mistake of the wise men to announce the arrival of His Son, Jesus. Subsequent events show the awareness of Jesus arrival that was created by the presence of those wise men in the palace.

We need the eyes of God to see aright, most especially when we ourselves, or others around us make supposed mistakes. There are sometimes these mistakes might be God actual way of fulfilling His purpose for, in and through us. Many people might be blaming Joseph for divulging his dreams to his siblings and parents. Yet, God saw that mistake as an avenue to launch Joseph into the actualization of his destiny. You need the wisdom of God not to react abruptly to what people see as mistakes when God is seeing it as means to manifest His miracle (cf.Isa.8:12).

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Holy Spirit, give me the right perspective for every situation around me, including supposed mistakes by myself and others.

2. Lord Jesus, I confess my silly mistakes of the past. Please, let Your mighty power, mercy and favour turn such mistakes to miracles.

3. Lord, deliever our parents from errors that can bring permanent damages on their children, in Jesus name.

TREM Devotional – Grace Empowers And Changes Lives

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 27 October 2021 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Grace Empowers And Changes Lives

TOPIC: Grace Empowers And Changes Lives

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.” (Titus 2:11-12 KJV)

When grace comes, there are things that must change; things will not remain the same. Zacchaeus encountered grace without anyone judging or condemning him. He said in Luke 19:8: “if I have stolen or taken anything from any man by falsehood, I will return it to them because salvation has come to my house. I can’t live the same way I used to live.” He was empowered to live for God. When grace comes, it changes your life.

Peter denied the Lord three times but Grace overruled on his behalf. In Mark 16:7, when the Lord rose from the dead, He specifically instructed the people to go and tell the disciples and also to look for Peter, just to let him know that God’s plans for him had not yet been aborted. Peter was eventually restored and in Acts 2, Peter preached and 3000 souls were saved.

In 1 Corinthians 15:10, Paul states: “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (KJV). Grace empowered Power. Grace enabled him to labor more than the rest of them all. So, when grace comes, things will not remain the same.

When the prodigal son received grace, he stayed back home; he never went away again because he understood the difference between a banqueting table and a garbage can. So, grace is not a license to continue in sin. Deal with sin before it deals with you. Sin humiliates and grinds people to a halt. Sin will make your pocket to have holes. Sin will bring you sickness and disease but Grace empowers you to live for God. Grace changes lives. An understanding of grace makes you appreciate and embrace the love of God and reject sin.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Glorious Home

Paul Enenche

Dunamis’ Seeds Of Destiny 27 October 2021 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche — The Glorious Home

TOPIC: The Glorious Home

Dwelling in perpetual realm of love, peace and excitement with your spouse and children is realistic.

SCRIPTURE: Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: Proverbs 24:3

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Dwelling in perpetual realm of love, peace and excitement with your spouse and children is realistic.

The Will of God for His Children is for them to have a glorious home, a home that should showcase the Glory of God.

Now, what is a glorious home?

It is a home that is filled with God’s Presence and Glory. It is a home characterized by love, harmony, unity, happiness, understanding, peace and tranquillity. It is a home devoid of undue pressure and tension.

Now, it is important to know that a glorious home is both possible and attainable. Having a pressure and tension-free marriage or home is achievable. Dwelling in perpetual realm of love, peace and excitement with your spouse and children is realistic.

Sometime ago, I travelled with my wife and one of our children to Ghana. As we sat and got talking, I said something and we all started laughing as if we were the only ones in that place. In fact, we completely forgot where we were. The excitement was so much that our host and his friends opted to take pictures of us. Both he and other people present took photographs of us.

Then he said, “You people appear to me like the happiest people on earth”. The truth is, we were not trying to act or impress anybody. We were only talking and laughing as we normally do. There was no intention of seeking for attention at all.

That is how the Christian life, marriage or home should be. Make the atmosphere free of pressure for your family as much as you can. Marriage should be free of stress, tension and pressure. Marriage is meant to be perpetually exciting.

Remember this: Dwelling in perpetual realm of love, peace and excitement with your spouse and children is realistic.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Ask God for the help to make your home a glorious one.
  2. Make up your mind to accept the responsibility for a glorious home.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for Your Help to make my home a glorious one. Let my home be a model home worthy of emulation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: THE GLORY OF THE HOME.

QUOTE: To live a life of praise and worship means living a life that glorifies God. That is, your life brings glory to God. When people see you, they praise God. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Luke 19-21

REFLECTION: Quality relationship with God translates into quality relationship with the people of your life. Peace with God and crises are home mutually exclusive. You can’t claim to have things in order with God and out of order with your wife/children. Something is wrong.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: The Blessing of an exciting home be yours in Jesus’ Name.

Today’s devotional was written by Pastor Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), headquartered at Abuja, Nigeria, with Pastor Paul and Becky Enenche, as the Senior Pastors. It is a power-packed arena where God’s Presence, Principles and Power are at work for the salvation, healing and restoration of human destinies and dignities

DCLM Daily Manna – Judgment In God’s House

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 27 October 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Judgment In God’s House

TOPIC: Judgment In God’s House

TEXT: 1 Peter 4:17-19

KEY VERSE: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” – (1 Peter 4:17)

MESSAGE:

The story was told of a certain Christian man living in adultery with a married woman. God revealed the matter to his pastor who called him and asked him about it. He looked at the pastor eyeball to eyeball and asked him; “Is it that you do not trust me?” He denied flatly. Again, God told the pastor, “This man is living in adultery.” The pastor called him the second time and asked him, he still denied. This happened three times. One day he went as usual to the woman’s house where they used to commit the sin, (because the woman’s husband used to travel for business). But unknown to them this time, the man did not travel having gotten the hint of what was happening in his absence. He waited in town until he was sure they were together and then came and knocked at the front door. The wife, unsuspecting that it was her husband came and opened the door. The man entered, went straight to the bedroom and with his loaded revolver shot the man twice on the head to end his life.

The teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and other Scriptures warn continuously of the possibilities of being lost even after one had been saved. Peter, in our text, reminds us of the coming judgment of God which would start at the house of God. “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

Many people today are out of the race because they do not know how to handle some stubborn sins to which they have strong attachment. Unfortunately, the situation in the church today, with all the strife, envy, tribalism, worldliness, prayerlessness, etc. cannot be said to be an ideal one.

Believers must take the warnings of Scripture very seriously. Only those who “endure to the end” will make it. The heaven-bound believer must remain focused, undistracted and sober to finish well.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God has zero tolerance for sin.

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – Being Responsible And Responsive

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional | October 26, 2021 | Being Responsible And Responsive

Topic:  Being Responsible And Responsive

Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2021

Read: Romans 12:9-13

Romans 12:9-13  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

MEMORISE:

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11. Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord (Romans 12:10-11)

EXPOSITION

Responsibilities refer to duties, or obligations you are saddled with to accomplish a particular goal. What is expected of you, as stipulated by a particular authority, is called responsibility. As you have a responsibility, or responsibilities, may you not shirk in rendering them as and when due, in Jesus’ name. Amen. People who refuse to carry out the assignments given them are given an undesirable adjective–irresponsible.

Response is the answer, or attention you give to a particular issue, challenge, or task when you have to, in your daily endeavours. Both secularly and sacredly, we need to be responsible and responsive. God has given everyone of us one duty, or the other. Jesus Christ tells a parable of a man who assigned his workers talents of which they were expected to trade with. Read Mat. 25:14-30.

The first servant was given five. His response was to work assiduously to gain five more. He was acknowledged and rewarded for being responsible. The second servant who got two talents was also responsible and responsive by gaining two more. His lord did not forget to commend and reward him accordingly.

However, the third servant came, the indolent one! He reacted negatively to being given only one talent! ‘Just one talent,’ he thought. He showed irresponsibility by choosing to do nothing with the talent that was allotted to him. Though the master understood each of them and gave to each according to his capacity/ability, the indolent servant (Mt. 25:24) accused the master. How often do we accuse God today! Many want to be Pastors, Prophets, Apostles, Evangelists… without preparing for the enormous tasks that come with these offices.

You don’t become popular by the title, but through the mantle. In whatever the Lord has graciously allotted you as gifts, or talents, you are expected to respond positively to it by taking up the responsibilities involved, and living up to expectations, again, strive, make effort to truly distinguish yourself in the Business of the Heavenly Father, God assisting you.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to be responsible and responsive in my relationship with You.

2. Lord Jesus, help me never to disappoint You in all my life.

3. Pray against the godless crave for titles among leaders and the led in churches.

TREM Devotional – Function In The Spirit Of Christ

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 26 October 2021 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Function In The Spirit Of Christ

TOPIC: Function In The Spirit Of Christ

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14 KJV

You cannot function in the spirit when you have not become like Him. Functioning in the gifts of the spirit should not be a struggle; every believer can do it. The problem is that you are too busy. The Lord will say, “come here apart for a while and stay with me.” If you don’t know how to function in the spirit, you will refuse.

Many believers have lost money because they did not pray about where they invested funds. God cannot mislead you. When you don’t have clarity about a thing, spend some more time before the Lord. Don’t rush out because the mistake you would make by rushing will be too costly. If you will spend time to inquire from the Lord, then even the time you think you have wasted, you’ll make it up with instant manifestations. That was how Jesus functioned.

If you look at the life of Jesus, he moved from a place of fellowship with the Father to the point of miracles, to another place of fellowship. He was always connected. This is not only for pastors, it also applies to you as a member of a church; it applies to every believer. When you’re running out of time, do you know that the Holy Spirit can actually tell you where to read and study for your exams?

Many of you are too busy; even the little morning devotion you used to do, you now skip it. You have no morning devotion, no place of fellowship with God but you want to walk in the spirit. You know what they said about Jesus in Mark 1:22? They said, “we have been hearing scribes and Pharisees speak, but we have never seen a man speak like you.” When you spend quality time with Jesus and you open your mouth, it is like thunder. Your testimony will be like that of Jesus. “What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!” (Matthew 8:27 KJV).

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Going Up By Uprightness

Paul Enenche

Dunamis’ Seeds Of Destiny 26 October 2021 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche — Going Up By Uprightness

TOPIC: Going Up By Uprightness

Uprightness is key to upliftment. To be upright is to end right up.

SCRIPTURE: Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34 (NIV).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Uprightness is key to upliftment. To be upright is to end right up.

It has been confirmed that uprightness of life is key to destiny fulfilment. Uprightness is key to greatness in life. Uprightness is key to upliftment. To be upright is to end right up.

The Scripture gives us examples of men of uprightness and integrity. These were men who were positively affected by their uprightness in handling material or financial resources. We shall be looking at two of them today:

  1. Samuel.

1 Samuel 12:3, 4 says,

Behold, here I am: witness against me before the Lord, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.

In essence, Samuel seemed to be challenging the whole assembly of the people of Israel that anyone among them who felt he had cheated him or her should openly walk forward and say it, but there was none. That was financial integrity and probity; it guarantees the future.

2.  Daniel

Daniel was another person in scripture who maintained the lifestyle of integrity and uprightness. Daniel was in charge of the king’s affairs but there was no damage Daniel 6:1-2).

The only person the king could find to take charge of the principal affairs of the empire, including the treasury and nothing got missing or damaged was Daniel. No wonder he ended as a great man.

Beloved, maintain the lifestyle of integrity. Refuse to stain your garment with iniquity.

Remember this: Uprightness is key to upliftment. To be upright is to end right up.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Maintain the lifestyle of integrity always.
  2. Avoid the lifestyle of compromise.

PRAYER: I receive the grace to walk in uprightness always. Deliver me from sin and its filthiness, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

REFLECTION: Righteousness exalts, unrighteousness abases. You cannot play with pigs and fly with eagles at the same time. There is only one choice to make.

DCLM Daily Manna – Blessed Through Obedience

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 26 October 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Blessed Through Obedience

TOPIC: Blessed Through Obedience

TEXT: Genesis 22:1-19 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

15 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

KEY VERSE: “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore …because thou hast obeyed my voice.” – (Genesis 22:17,18)

MESSAGE:

In our passage, God tested Abraham to know if he would give Him the most precious thing in his life – his only son Isaac. The next morning, he was on his way to Mount Moriah to offer the child in sacrifice as demanded by God. He was at the point of actually slaying the lad when He stopped him and provided a ram as a substitute. God then called him again and re-affirmed His earlier promises to make his descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand at the sea shore.

God called Abraham at 75 years of age but did not immediately give him a child even though He knew barrenness was a problem in the family. This is because God was primarily interested in redeeming his soul and teaching him how to “walk before [Him] and be… perfect” (Genesis 17:1). Today, God still wants men to know that “godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).

The eternal destiny of man is of great concern to God. While He blesses people with temporal things such as money, cars, houses, jobs, etc., His greatest desire is that men should know that His plan and purpose for them go beyond the present material world. He is preparing for them, a glorious land where He “shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying” (Revelation 21:4). This is the ultimate. Abraham is already there (Matthew 8:11). And many shall join him there.

If you are not qualified to be there yet, why not make yourself one through repentance and by faith in Christ.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God blesses and honours the generation of those who obey Him.
