Read: Proverbs 23:19-21

Proverbs 23:19-21 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

MEMORISE:
There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it (Proverbs 21:20).

EXPOSITION
As we continue in our study on how to be financially independent today, we shall take a critical look at other biblical outstanding keys to possess it. The first one you have to take note here is that, you should do away with worldly pleasure. This is important in being financially independent. The Bible says, ‘He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich’ (Prov. 21:17). People who love pleasure spend their hard-earned resources on what cannot bring profit to them. This is a terrible act of wasting good and God-given treasures on unnecessary things (frivolities), and God doesn’t take such lightly. Money is not meant to be spent, it is to be invested. Those who invest their money have more; those who spend their become unnecessarily poor. Money is hard to get, but easy to spend. Think twice before you put money into anything (Prov. 23:11-21).

If you are able to conquer the love of pleasure, the next key you need to have with you is to learn how to save. Practice the law of saving. When you make profits or get some blessings in some ways God has provided, save part of them first, before beginning to spend; save for the rainy day that will always come. This will help you to avoid buying those things you don’t really need – impulse buying. According to financial experts, if you continue to buy what you don’t need, you will later need what you can’t buy.

Dear devout, don’t wait until you gather huge amount of money before you begin to save. Cultivate that idea as early as possible in your financial life. To squander all you have has been biblically described foolishness (Prov. 21:20). Even, common sense knows that.

If you can combine these two keys discussed today in this devotional, doing away with pleasure, and saving, you can be sure of attaining to financial independence in life.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, give me special capacity not to love the pleasures of life.
2. Lord, equip me with the passion for, and ability to save the right proportions of the resources You accord me in life.
3. Pray for CAC Odubanjo Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.

TREM Devotional – Love In The Family

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 17 February 2022 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Love In The Family

TOPIC: Love In The Family

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)

One of the things that I really love the Bible for is the fact that it is complete. There is something about everything in the Bible. As the world celebrates love, it is interesting to know that many are celebrating what they do not know or fully understand, but as believers, we celebrate love from a point of knowing.

Today, I want us to bring it into the family. The command to husbands is to love their wives. Now, if the Bible stopped here, there would have been many interpretations for it. But God in His infinite wisdom qualified the love. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church …” Question: how did Christ love the church? That same verse explains it so that there is no ambiguity “… and gave himself for it.” Wow! Did you see that?

Are you a married man or you are a young man looking forward to marriage, can you see that? That is why the family is the replica of the relationship we have with God. The husband represents God but see what is expected of you. Yes, your wife may be unlovable, yes, she may have done something bad that you are finding difficult to forgive, but beloved, I need you to know that when God gave this instruction, He also backed it up with the grace to obey. All you need to do is to build a stronger relationship with God and remember, just like there is no sin too big for God to forgive, there is equally no sin too big for you to forgive and the same goes for the wives too.

Yes, this scripture says husbands love your wives, but that does not mean the wives should not love the husband. With love comes forgiveness. So learn to forgive one another. Be determined to make your home a haven for your children and yourselves, refuse to give the devil any foothold in the family, and be assured that the blessing of God will be evident in your home like never before.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Dividends Of Going Far With God

Paul Enenche

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 17 February 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Dividends Of Going Far With God

TOPIC: The Dividends Of Going Far With God

SCRIPTURE: But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

It has been confirmed that there are great benefits for going far with God. You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that the path of the just is as the shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18).

To make progress in life, ensure you make progress with God. You cannot be a success with God and be a failure in life.

For example, when I was in the University as a medical student, I was President of the Medical Students’ Fellowship on my campus. I later became the National President of the Fellowship.

That made me to travel from one university to another preaching to medical students. I remember one of those days, I returned from Calabar and had just 48 hours to write a 2-year Course Examination. So, I sat and began to read from night till morning. When I lifted up my eyes, the sun had risen, yet I had not done enough. Then I prayed like, “Lord, I need Your help. I have done all I can do.”

So, I went to write the examination and misunderstood one question. The question said, “Write the autopsy finding of a man dying of primary liver cell cancer”. Then I wrote that the man had not died, so why do autopsy? I wrote one line as my answer. And that question carried 20 marks and it was also 20% of the total for that Paper. When I realised later, I said, “Lord, you know that I know the answer. You know what I would have written but the fact that I misunderstood the question, Lord, help me write it down what I should have written”.

At the end, the person who marked my script saw me at the Teaching Hospital and congratulated me for excellent performance. I believe God wrote it for me and if God writes an examination for you, you cannot fail.

Beloved, you cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

REMEMBER THIS: You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make up your mind to go far with God.
  2. Take your spirituality seriously.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to go far with You. Deliver me from being nominal Christianity, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – God Defends His Own

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 17 February 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Defends His Own

TOPIC: God Defends His Own

TEXT: Exodus: 18:16-24

KEY VERSE: “And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.” – (Exodus 8:22)

MESSAGE:

The Bible is replete with ordinary folks who got elevated to positions of authority and who ironically arrogated such pre-eminence to themselves. One of such is Pharaoh of Egypt in the days of Moses. He became so deluded that he thought he was superior to the Almighty. It is always amusing to witness the way God demystifies arrogant and stubborn men, and proves to all that He is the Lord without an equal.

The passage today describes the release of the third and fourth plagues over the land of Egypt. The third plague turned dust into lice, which attacked both man and beast. Pharaoh’s magicians attempted to enchant something similar but they could not. This confirmed to Pharaoh that it was the handiwork of God. Yet Pharaoh hardened his heart, which prompted the fourth plague – the release of grievous swarm of flies all over Egypt. But in Goshen where the Israelites dwelt, God made a demarcation that not one single fly was found there. This was to prove to Pharaoh and Egypt that God defends His own.

We should not doubt the ability of the Almighty to save to the uttermost and to frustrate those who rise against us. God truly has the capacity to give light in a particular place and darkness in another. He can do anything to protect and defend His chosen ones.

God still defends His people today. Even when it seems the devil and his cohorts are gaining the upper hand and the children of God are losing out, our heavenly Father will move swiftly to crush the enemy and reverse the trend.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
If God be for us, who can be against us?

Topic: The Secret Of Financial Independence (II)

Read: Proverbs 28:20-22

Proverbs 28:20-22 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

MEMORISE:
A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished (Proverbs 28:20)

EXPOSITION
Having known what financial independence is, and how important it is in the life of every believer, we need to discuss other biblical keys to launch us into the ocean of financial breakthrough. The second key is to do away with the get-rich-quick syndrome. In Nigeria, for instance, financial fraud has been popularly code-named ‘419’. The people who practise it study people’s attitudes to money. If they know that you have the penchant for getting rich quick, you are a prospective prey, because they can successfully entangle and dupe you. You might not be able to escape financial malady, if you don’t overcome this evil tendency (Prov. 13:11; 20:21; 28:22). Remember the ‘MMM’ palaver and other that sent many into the dungeons of penury. Different temptations and snares that make one fall from grace come the ways of those with uncontrollable desires to get rich quickly (1 Tim. 6:9-10).

Someone had opined that, if you want to run with God, your running must not be faster than that of snail. He is just trying to say that walking with God means that you are ready to walk at His pace. Why running faster than the One you would meet where you are going, only to discover that you have to wait for Him before doing what you are ran there for? Let your desire to get rich in life be slow and steady. Avoid undue eagerness to get money or wealth at all cost; learn to exercise patience. God has plan for your life (Jer. 29:11).

Another strong key to financial independence is to avoid show off. This is a poverty mentality. If you are a secure person, in term of finance, you don’t need to impress anybody with what you have. This is what someone jokingly terms ‘Artificial bigmanism,’ and is clearly captured in Proverbs 13:7a. Why living to impress others? Truly wealthy people don’t have problem on how to appear before other, whether they would be accepted or not; they are secure within themselves. Only the poor kill themselves on how to acceptably impress others. Avoid this mentality; stop wasting your resources on liabilities.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me to live my life above the get-rich-quick mentality.
2. Lord, give me the ability to live above insecurity in financial matters.
3. Lord, help our young people to conquer the spirit of greed and get-rich-quick in life.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Power Of Prayer Of Faith

Paul Enenche

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 16 February 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Power Of Prayer Of Faith

TOPIC: The Power Of Prayer Of Faith

SCRIPTURE: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Prayer of Faith refers to prayer prayed on the behalf of someone.

It has been established that it is the perfect Will of God for His children to live in absolute health (3 John 2). Existence in perfect health is the perfect Will of God for His children.

However, people fall into ill health for different reasons. And when that happens, there are provisions made by God for people to get out of sickness.

In our study today, we shall look at the Prayer of Faith as one way to get out of sickness.

The Prayer of Faith
The Prayer of Faith refers to prayer prayed on the behalf of someone. It is the prayer prayed on your behalf by men and women of faith in times of need. For example, a brother may step into a hospital and decide to pray on the behalf of a fellow brother or someone in affliction. When that brother stands on the Word of God and offers such prayer, it is called the Prayer of Faith. It is the prayer prayed in faith on the behalf of someone in need (James 5:15).

I remember one of my classmates when I was in the University. He was a Christian brother. He had ulcer and had taken different medications but he was not healed. I went to his room one day and saw him groaning in pain. I laid my hands on him with a violent faith, offered the Prayer of Faith, anointed him with oil and commanded him to be healed. He jumped off that bed of affliction and said, “I am healed.”

This was because I stood with him and on his behalf and prayed over him the Prayer of Faith. The Prayer of Faith is a powerful weapon of healing and deliverance.

REMEMBER THIS: The Prayer of Faith refers to prayer prayed on the behalf of someone.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Reject any activity that will keep you in sickness and affliction.
  2. Refuse to remain in sickness; engage the Prayer of Faith to stay healthy permanently.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for showing me the way of Divine health. I receive the grace to enjoy Divine health and stay healthy always, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: CHANNELS OF DIVINE HEALING AND HEALTH (PART 2).

QUOTE: There is a God that hears prayers. Every woman that will succeed in life must be a woman of prayer and fasting.
Culled from “10 SUCCESS STRATEGIES FOR RELATIONSHIPS” by Dr (Mrs) Becky Paul-Enenche.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Judges 1-4.

REFLECTION: The reason why you must develop your faith in God is not just because of your own life’s welfare but because of others as well. The time may come when the survival of a dear one may hang on your faith.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION: The Lord make you to be a blessing to your world in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – Incomparable God!

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 16 February 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Incomparable God!

TOPIC: Incomparable God!

TEXT: Exodus 8:1-15 (KJV)

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2 And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs:

3 And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneadingtroughs:

4 And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.

5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.

6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the Lord, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the Lord.

9 And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?

10 And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God.

11 And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.

12 And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh: and Moses cried unto the Lord because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.

13 And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields.

14 And they gathered them together upon heaps: and the land stank.

15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.

KEY VERSE: “And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.” – (Exodus 8:10)

MESSAGE:

Bishop Beveridge gave a wonderful illustration of one of the names by which God chose to call Himself, “I AM”. He does not say, I am their light, their guide, their strength or tower, but only “I AM”. “He sets, as it were, His hands to a blank, that His people may write under it what they pleased that is good to them. As if He should say, Are they weak? I am strength. Are they poor? I am riches. Are they sick? I am health. Are they dying? I am life…”

In the passage under review, Egypt experienced a plague of frogs after Pharaoh refused to release Israel from bondage. In desperation, Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron and requested prayers to take the frogs away. Moses informed him that his request was granted according to his word that he might know that there was none like unto the Lord our God.

Sadly, many Christians handle God’s word and promises exactly like Pharaoh. They delay their blessings and answers to prayers because they never appropriate the word of God in their lives or situations.

Faithfulness is one of God’s distinguishing attributes. His nature is to keep His covenant with His children. This is what makes Him an incomparable God. He is faithful in all generations. His faithfulness, therefore, ought to strengthen our faith in Him. He is faithful to save, heal, deliver, give abundant life, break every yoke and keep us until the end. The more we exhibit faith in this incomparable God, the more we will experience His faithfulness in our lives.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Faith in God’s faithfulness always prevails.

Topic: The Secret Of Financial Independence (I)

Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Read: 2 Kings 4:1-7

2 Kings 4:1-7  Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

MEMORISE:

The desire of the lazy man kills him, for his hand refuse to labour (Proverbs 21:25).

EXPOSITION

One cannot live a better life without financial independence. Not being financially independent can be very worrisome. Financial stability contributes to living a life that glorified God. It is not the will of God for us to live our lives in penury. Yet, many children of God don’t have financial independence. They go from one mountain to the other asking for divine blessings, but seemingly to no avail. The truth is that, many pray for financial breakthrough but hardly understand the biblical keys to it. It can be implied from the saying of Jesus Christ in John 8:32 that the truth a man doesn’t know, cannot set him free.

What is financial independence? It is a state in which an individual has enough to live on without having to worry, borrow, or depend on others. It is being able to meet your needs in life, with ease. Financial experts tell us that if you fail to have financial independence at age 40, it is a dangerous signal to you that you are going to be broke at 60, which is the age of retirement.

Let us look at some biblical facts to practise in order to be financially independent. The first among all is for you to have something doing – profession, business, service, career. When the seriously indebted widow of one of the sons of the prophet cried out to Elisha for help, the question he asked her was, ‘What do you have in the house’? The woman obviously had nothing to sell or to work with. No wonder after the God-given miracle of the oil, Elisha instructed her to go sell it in order to pay the debt (2 Kgs. 4:2-7).

The secret of financial independence starts with finding something to do – offering services, selling, etc. Don’t be the lazy or idle type (Prov. 4:23; 22:29). Do not be unnecessarily choosy; start from somewhere. If you start small, God will eventually bless the work of your hand

PRAYER POINTS:

1. I stand against financial problem of any kind in my life, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, give me wisdom and power to be financially independent, in Jesus’ name.

3. Pray for the newly wedded couples to develop the capacity for financial freedom from the early stages of their marriages.

TREM Devotional – No Fear In Love

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 15 February 2022 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – No Fear In Love

TOPIC: No Fear In Love

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 (KJV)

One of the chains the devil puts on mankind is fear. Many are so afraid of God that when any evil thing happens to them, they attribute it to God’s punishment. Beloved, I have come to remind you that there is no fear in love. Like our scripture for today says, perfect love casts out fear. Let us look at the same scripture in The Passion Translation: “Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.” Did you see that? Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection. Wow! What a relief?

If you understand the love of God, fear will have no place in you. When the contrary wind blows you will be able to stand and speak with boldness to the situation. No matter what the devil throws at you, you will stand and declare the word of God because you know it is not from God. Every good gift is from God; sickness, pain, poverty, death and all the works of the enemy are not good gifts, so they are not from God. You, therefore, have every right to reject it and tell the devil: not in my territory because God has given you power over all the ability of the devil and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

As we celebrate love in this season, let us meditate on the true love of God. The love that reaches out to you not because you deserve it, but because He reserved it for you. Meditate on the love of God and spread the love of God to the world around you. Listen, the world is full of condemnation already, what they need is love and the assurance of God’s love and that is what God wants you to announce to the world. Don’t stop at valentine’s day, keep on spreading the unending love of God to the world around you.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Your Love – A Key To Your Lift

Paul Enenche

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 15 February 2022 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Your Love – A Key To Your Lift

TOPIC: Your Love – A Key To Your Lift

SCRIPTURE: And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. 1 Samuel 16:23.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your love determines your lift. What you love doing connects you to your lift in life.

Affection is a major key or pointer to purpose and destiny. What you love doing is a pointer to what you will live doing.

For example, David was a man who loved worshipping God. David loved worship until he played the instrument to the highest level in Israel. When they were looking for the best instrumentalist in Israel who could play for King Saul to be refreshed, they looked for David. David was indisputably the best instrumentalist in the land at that time (1 Samuel 16:17-23).

David loved worship to the point of inventing a worship equipment.

1 Chronicles 23:5 says:
Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

As a person, I love worshipping God. So, God has given me the grace to worship Him in the private, to play instruments, to receive and write songs, to sing songs and to coordinate the choir when necessary.

David’s love for worship was his link to the palace. You see, your love determines your lift. What you love doing connects you to your lift in life.

Now, what does love or affection mean?
Affection, in this context, refers to what you love doing for the joy it brings to you.

Whatever turns on the tap of your excitement is your real affection. There is a connection between your excitement and your assignment. When you follow your excitement into your assignment, you connect your consignment. But that assignment that is not your excitement can lead you to harassment. That will not be your portion in Jesus Name.

You do not need to look too far. Ask yourself: “What is it that turns on the tap of my joy?” That is the secret of your destiny fulfilment.

REMEMBER THIS: Your love determines your lift. What you love doing connects you to your lift in life.

ASSIGNMENTS:

DCLM Daily Manna – Heart First

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 15 February 2022 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Heart First

TOPIC: Heart First

TEXT: Exodus 7:14-25 (KJV)

14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river’s brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

16 And thou shalt say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

17 Thus saith the Lord, In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the Lord had smitten the river.

KEY VERSE: “And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.” – (Exodus 7:14)

MESSAGE:

“The farthest place on earth”, so goes an adage, “is the heart of man”. If it were possible to dissect the heart so that everyone can see what is hidden therein, they will be shocked to see unimaginable things. The heart is the most vital part of the human body. As several commentators have noted, “When we go to heaven, we will go heart-first and not head-first”. This saying underscores the importance of the heart in our relationship with God.

Today’s passage illustrates that God knows all hearts. Before the Lord sent Moses to request that Pharaoh let Israel go, He knew the state of Pharaoh’s heart; that it was hardened. The first plague of turning the waters of Egypt into blood did not soften his heart; instead, he turned and went into his house and refused to let Israel go (Exodus 7:23).

These days, people seem to engage more in outward show of religion, but their hearts are far from God than ever. A heart set on a multiplicity of pursuit and goals, drawn apart by diverse issues of earthly cares cannot find the peace to offer a consecrated and committed service to God. Neither will that heart be able to find the needed time for the old time religion that leads to real salvation.

God desires that our hearts be filled with sacred affection and love. Our emotions, purposes, thoughts and mind should unite in surrendered devotion to God. He will reward those who sincerely seek Him with all their hearts. However, He is far from mere professors of religion who keep their hearts away from Him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
A hardened heart attracts affliction.

Canada-based dynamic Praise/Worship leader, Daniel Ojo has released a brand new single titled “Thank You Lord”, featuring multiple award-winning Ghanaian Gospel music minister Joe Mettle.

Thank You Lord” is a song to remind us of how good and faithful God is and has been through the years. Even in the midst of our trials and troubles, he has remained truly faithful! And for that, we ought to always thank him and give him all the glory that he deserves.

I was inspired by Psalms 103:1-2: “Bless the LORD, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits” to write this song.

I am so grateful and privileged to have featured my big brother and amazing man of God, Joe Mettle on this song. Who’s given this song so much live and grace as he poured out his heart.

Our heart of gratitude this new year is how we win and I pray this song will birth in everyone a heart of thanksgiving” – Daniel Ojo
