Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Connection Between Sin And Sickness

Paul Enenche

Dunamis’ Seeds Of Destiny 16 November 2021 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: The Connection Between Sin And Sickness

TOPIC: The Connection Between Sin And Sickness

There is a link between sickness and sin. To confess your sins is to be in the position to be healed.

SCRIPTURE: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. James 5:15-16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is a link between sickness and sin. To confess your sins is to be in the position to be healed.

The Scripture makes it clear that it is the Will of God for His children to live in perfect health (3 John 2).

However, should a child of God fall into ill-health, God made provisions for the restoration of his or her health.

Now, one of the channels of healing and health is,

The confession and forgiveness of sins

James 5:15-16 says,

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.

The Scripture makes it clear that if a sick person is anointed with oil, the prayer of faith shall save him, and if he has committed sin, he shall be forgiven him. So, there is a link between sickness and sin. To confess your sins is to be in the position to be healed. It may not be every sickness that is a product of sin but there is a connection between sickness and sin.

In Psalms 103:1-3 the Scripture points out the connection between the forgiveness of iniquity and the healing of infirmity.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.

Before God would heal all thy diseases, He would first forgive all thine iniquities.

And Psalm 119:67 clearly shows that there is a link between affliction and transgression:

Before I was afflicted, I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

Going astray may not only mean smoking, drinking, or living in immorality. It may be exaggeration, keeping malice or living in bitterness.

Please, make up your mind to avoid iniquity by all means. And if you have fallen, confess your sins to God and obtain His Mercy so you can be healed.

Remember this: There is a link between sickness and sin. To confess your sins is to be in the position to be healed.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make up your mind to live a sin-free life.
  2. Determine to never sleep over guilt. Confess promptly and obtain forgiveness.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to live a sin-free life. I confess my sins, and I ask for Your mercy and forgiveness, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: CHANNELS OF DIVINE HEALING AND HEALTH (PART1)

QUOTE: Iniquity targets your faith, it makes you weak. And in such weakness, you are not able to quote a Scripture or make a declaration and believe it can come to pass, because your conscience is brutalized. The boldness of your faith is weakened by your guilt. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Romans 6-8

REFLECTION: Guilt in the heart is translatable into affliction in the body. Determine to live free of guilt so as to live free of affliction.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Receive your healing and deliverance from every consequence of sin or wrong in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – Punishment Of Disobedient Nations

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 16 November 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Punishment Of Disobedient Nations

TOPIC: Punishment Of Disobedient Nations

TEXT: Zechariah 14:12-21

12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.

15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.

16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, Holiness Unto The Lord; and the pots in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.

KEY VERSE: “This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.” – (Zechariah 14:19)

MESSAGE:

On August 6, 1945, the United States of America dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. On August 14, the Second World War came to an abrupt end with the unconditional surrender of Japan to the allied forces led by the United State of America. The allied forces had in July seriously warned Japan for the last time through diplomatic channels, that it risked total extinction if she did not surrender unconditionally. But Japan refused. Today, Japan lives to tell the sad story. On the day of the Lord when Jesus Christ comes to judge the recalcitrant world, convicted sinners will live to tell the story with regrets.

In the last chapter of the book of Zechariah, God reminded Israel of the second coming of Christ. He stated that all nations will gather and the Lord will fight against them with His feet standing on Mount Olives which is before Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:3,4). He is coming to judge the world in blazing wrath and indignation. The Lord will come with all His saints with Him. After this, Christ will reign for a thousand years when everyone and everything in His Kingdom will be holy. It will be a time of holiness unto the Lord.

However, before this time, Christ would have removed the Church at the rapture of the saints. Believers will be in heaven and will be enjoying the promised comfort and consolation. The Great Tribulation, a time of suffering, will take place immediately after the rapture and will be a time of pain.

To escape the wrath to come, sinners must make sure they are genuinely saved. We must ensure that our relatives, friends and neighbours are all saved.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Reality will dawn on sinful humanity when rapture takes place.

[Music + Lyrics] Turned My Life Around – Faith Sani

Turned My Life Around - Faith Sani

Anointed gospel music minister, Faith Sani shares a confessional song titled “Turned My Life Around” produced by Tyanx.

The song is born out of a deep reflection on some of the things God has done. The confidence that God never fails and his word never fails, served as inspiration for the song.

Speaking, Faith says, “Knowing what God has done and is still doing in my life, reflecting on his Word that never fails.

Indeed God is too Faithful. As we look unto God for help this season, He will answer our prayers and Turn Things Around in our favour in Jesus Name.”

“God is not A man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent. Has he said and he has not done it? Or has he spoken and it has not been made good?” – quoting Numbers 23:19 in the buttress of her submission.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Love Is Not Proud

Paul Enenche

Dunamis’ Seeds Of Destiny 15 November 2021 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Love Is Not Proud

TOPIC: Love Is Not Proud (Seeds Of Destiny 15 November 2021)

SCRIPTURE:…charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up…1 Corinthians 13:4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot downgrade those God has upgraded at the Cross of Calvary.

Apostle Paul, in his first Letter to the Corinthian Church, in the thirteenth Chapter, shows us the importance and features of love. He says,

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1 (NLT).

This means, love is very important in the life of a child of God.

Now, what is love? What is the nature of love?

Love is not proud.

Love is not boastful. Love is humble. It is hatred that is proud!

Now, take note of these points on the nature of love that is not proud:

  1. Love is not puffed up.

This means, love is not blown up!

  1. Love is not centred on the worship of self.

There are some people that everything about them revolves around them. The only vocabulary in their lips is, “I, I, me, I, I…”

  1. Love is not swollen-headed with a superiority complexity.

There are people who move about with a superiority complexity.

You know, even though inferiority complex is disastrous, superiority complexity is also terrible. It is the mentality that says, “I am better than you”. There are some so-called rich and influential people who exhibit this kind of mentality. They want to make everyone feel that they are more important than them. That is not love. That kind of lifestyle can lead someone into the flames of hell because you cannot despise those whom Jesus has esteemed. You cannot downgrade those God has upgraded at the Cross of Calvary.

So, what you need is an accurate estimation of yourself under God. Make up your mind to love others by exhibiting the attitude of humility.

Remember this: You cannot downgrade those God has upgraded at the Cross of Calvary.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. By all means, refuse the lifestyle of pride and arrogance.
  2. Always humble yourself and show others the love of Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to love people liberally. Deliver me from every trace of pride and arrogance and clothe me with the garment of humility, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: THE PRACTICE OF LOVE (PART 1)

QUOTE: If only you can remember where you came from, how it looked like, before God changed your story, it will give you the humility to sustain the authority. It will give you the humility to sustain the notoriety. It will give you the humility to sustain your publicity. It will give you the humility to sustain the power. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Romans 3-5

REFLECTION: Value for God is reflected in value for people. The deeper your knowledge/value for God, the higher your value for people.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Grace to be everything God has ordained for you to be is released for you in Jesus’ Name.

Today’s devotional was written by Pastor Paul Enenche of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), headquartered at Abuja, Nigeria, with Pastor Paul and Becky Enenche, as the Senior Pastors. CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – Satan Has Not Given Up!

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional |  Monday, November 15, 2021 | Satan Has Not Given Up!

Topic: Satan Has Not Given Up!

Date: Monday, November 15, 2021

Read:  1 Peter 5:8-10

1 Peter 5:8-10  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

MEMORISE:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

EXPOSITION

A popular Christian singer once sang a Yoruba song that translates, “Satan never rests, but Christians keep relaxing” Be warned: Satan, the devil, manipulated and humiliated the first set of humans (Gen 3:1 ff). Most terrifying is the fact that Satan was thrown on earth, and he wreaks havoc. Satan never gives up on the saints. He so much concentrates on them because he already has the condemned in his cage.

Dear devout, yes, you have truly given your life to Christ’s lordship. You are Spirit-filled and even hard-hitting on the devil and his cohorts. You are aptly described as terror to his kingdom, principalities and powers… Yet, Satan still hopes and aspires to have you to his side. He doesn’t give up on causing saints to stumble, hence the need to be prayerful and equally watchful, because he roars like lion, seeking whom to devour. You need to resist him, and he will flee.

There is no level a Christian can get to that the devil won’t seek occasion to bring him down. You cannot afford to be complacent, regardless of your titles and positions. Titles don’t intimidate the devil. Always be wary of his antics and devices. Simon Peter thought the devil was far away from him when he was boasting of the impregnability of his allegiance to the Lord. He never knew Satan was close to blowing him away like chaff! Thank God for Christ’s prayer for him. Peter, the rock, became so afraid of an armless damsel. That was somebody who courageously cut off someone else’s ear in ‘defence’ of his Master!

Satan has his agenda and is vigorously, violently, vehemently and relentlessly pursing it with passion. That is why he has succeeded in bringing down even some foremost generals in God’s Army. You can avoid the pitfalls that have ravaged countless souls. If Satan was not moved by Jesus’ 40-day-40-night fasting and but went ahead to tempt Him, who are you? He always hangs around. Don’t be complacent!

PRAYER POINTS

1. Holy Spirit, help me to be wary of my real enemy.

2. Satan, thus says the Lord, you cannot lay hold of me and all that are mine, in Jesus’ name.

3. Satan, lose your hold on every child of God, in Jesus’ name.

TREM Devotional – Develop Intimacy With God

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 15 November 2021 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Develop Intimacy With God

TOPIC: Develop Intimacy With God

“So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.” Luke 5:11 (NKJV)

Jesus was teaching and asked to use Peter’s boat, to which he obliged. After Jesus was done using Peter’s boat, He then asked him to launch out into the deep for a great catch. Peter told Jesus how they had all toiled all night and caught nothing. However, even though this was not the appropriate time to go out for fishing, he would obey Jesus’ instruction. The Bible records that Peter caught so much fish that his net broke and they had to summon for help from other partners in the sea.

At that very instant, Peter recognized that Jesus was different and in comparison, to himself, he felt unworthy. Then he fell on his knees, completely in awe of Jesus. Jesus told Peter there was nothing to fear and proceeded to receive him into a fold that would change the course of his destiny forever. Peter changed from being an ordinary ‘fisherman’ to a ‘fisher of men.’ He dropped everything to follow Jesus. That became the beginning of Peter’s intimate relationship with Jesus.

Throughout Peter’s journey with Jesus, He continued to develop this relationship. Even when he made mistakes, he kept on pursuing Jesus who continued to manifest His love towards him. It was Peter who said in Matthew 16:16: “…Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (KJV). This revelation could only have been received from the place of intimacy. Peter was one of those that saw Jesus transfigured with His face shining like the sun. He saw when Moses and Elijah came to have a conversation with Jesus. He was there when the loud voice spoke from heaven declaring “…This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him” (Matthew 17:1-10 KJV).

Child of God, in today’s world, boldness is not an option. It is a requirement. Boldness is developed through intimacy with God. Spend time in His presence so you can also develop boldness and a holy audacity that will cause the world to answer to you.

DCLM Daily Manna – Harden Not Your Heart

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 15 November 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Harden Not Your Heart

TOPIC: Harden Not Your Heart

TEXT: 2 Kings 10:28-36

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

29 Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

30 And the Lord said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

31 But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

32 In those days the Lord began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

33 From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

35 And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

36 And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.

KEY VERSE: “But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin” (2 Kings 10:31).

MESSAGE:

The heart is the most vital organ of the human body. It is used in the Bible several times to represent a person’s entire inner self including the whole of our thinking process and memory. The heart is the place where our feelings are created.

From the text, Jehu was raised and anointed king for the purpose of avenging the blood of the prophets and all the servants of the Lord killed by Ahab and Jezebel (2 Kings 9:6-8). This assignment, he successfully accomplished. Afterwards, God appeared to him and promised him that his children, to the fourth generation would sit on the throne of Israel if he continued in obedience. Before his anointing as king, Jehu was a captain in the army of Israel. He was given his master’s position on a platter of gold; and had the privilege of hearing from God. Yet, he took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord with all his heart. He departed not from idolatry.

Today, many resist the Spirit of God prompting them to do God’s will. They treat with contempt divine revelation and would not be guided, governed nor controlled by the word of God. This happens because they are so negligent over the state of their hearts that it becomes so hardened and unyielding to the gospel message and the leading of the Spirit. They despise the Scripture which says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).

The genuine believer must be different. We must open our heart in meekness to the engrafted word of God, which is able to save our souls from the wrath to come. Resist and refuse Satan to be in charge of your heart. Let Jesus in and fill it up with regular study of the word of God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Let your heart be tender towards God and His word.

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional – A Thorn In The Flesh

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional

CAC Living Water Daily Devotional |  Sunday, November 14, 2021 | A Thorn In The Flesh

Topic: A Thorn In The Flesh

Date: Sunday, November 14, 2021 – World Diabetes Day

Read:   2 Corinthians 12:7-10

2 Corinthians 12:7-10  And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

MEMORISE:

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure (2 Corinthians 12:7).

EXPOSITION

Literally, thorn is any sharply pointed woody growth projecting from the stem of some trees, bushes, and woody plants. Physically having thorn in one’s flesh is better imagined than experienced. It is a foreign body that the body cannot cope with because of the pains it causes the body. Until the thorn is removed from where it is hiding in the flesh, the whole body would be discomfited. Diabetes or any other ailment could be classified as thorn in the flesh. Yet it is within God’s power to remove such, as the World commemorates Diabetes Day today.

Today, the Holy Spirit is teaching us something about thorns that are far beyond the physical. The presence of thorn in the flesh, physically, is quite easy to solve, once the spot is located. However, removing the spiritual thorn is complicated!

In our text, Apostle Paul expresses his human frustration with the ‘thorn’ in his flesh. He confessed he had prayed to God on three occasions for its removal, but God had instructed otherwise: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness’ (2 Cor. 12:9). In a way, God is telling us that we should be concerned with why He allows thorns in our fleshes than the thorns themselves! In Paul’s case, it was to humble him ‘lest he be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations he had’ (v. 7). Naturally, thorns in the flesh limit the activity of the affected area. This means God allows certain situations to make us humble.

God made His chosen Israel to go through the wilderness experience because He wanted to elicit from them their intents and humility (Deut. 8:1ff). Thorns in the flesh are of different natures, degrees and operations. There are serious situations, like childlessness, medication-defying ailments, and physical impairments that have beset great people of God. These may be Satan-induced, but the truth is, God is at work, fulfilling His purpose for, and through the afflicted (Amos 3:6; 1 Cor. 10:13; Rom. 8:28). So, don’t allow them to negatively impact you in relation to God (cf. Rom. 8:35-39). Be strong in the Lord.

PRAYER POINTS

1. My Father, my Father. Help me to keep on keeping on in You, regardless of what You allow to come my way in life.

2. Lord Jesus, I covenant with You: Nothing will make me quit following You, whatever comes my way.

3. Pray for believers who are at the verge of apostatising because of their terribly trying situations.

TREM Devotional – You Are Not A Failure

Dr. Mike Okonkwo TREM

TREM Devotional 14 November 2021 Daily Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – You Are Not A Failure

TOPIC: You Are Not A Failure

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” Micah 7:8 KJV

There is nothing like fatal failure for the believer. There is always a bounce back mechanism. The fact that you fell once does not make you a failure. A failure is not one who fell, but one who refuses to get up after falling. Everyone goes through a ‘fall’ at one time or the other. But the difference between a success and a failure is that the successful person rises and refuses to wallow in self-pity, while the failure remains in the fall.

David was a man who committed so many atrocities. He took the wife of his staff, tried to manipulate the man and afterwards, David killed him and took over his wife. Yet, when God was going to describe him, He called him, “a man after His heart.” How come? David had committed fornication and murder in an attempt to cover up his error. However, when the prophet confronted David, he quickly went on his face before God. David never covered any of his errors. He was quick to confess them and turn away from them. Each time he did, the mercy of God reached out to him.

The same thing with Paul. He was the one-man riot squad that waged a war against Christianity to the extent that he had the approval to go and wipe out Christians. But the Lord met him on the way to Damascus. Yet Paul, writing to the church in Corinth said: “Trust us, we’ve never hurt a soul, never exploited or taken advantage of anyone” (2 Corinthians 7:2 MSG). But Paul killed innocent Christians; yet, the Bible says: “…if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).

The same can be your story. You don’t have to die in guilt. Get up, dust yourself and move on; your future is bright. The world is waiting to hear your testimony.

Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Understanding The Fear Of The Lord

Paul Enenche

Dunamis’ Seeds Of Destiny 14 November 2021 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Understanding The Fear Of The Lord

TOPIC: Understanding The Fear Of The Lord

To exist in the fear of the Lord is to govern your life by the rules of God.

SCRIPTURE: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To exist in the fear of the Lord is to govern your life by the rules of God.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. To operate or manifest the Wisdom of God, the fear of the Lord is a capital requirement. Therefore, it is very important to know what the fear of the Lord is so we can be wise in life.

What then is the fear of the Lord?

The fear of God is existing by Godly principles.

To exist in the fear of the Lord is to govern your life by the principles of God as found in His Word. To govern your life by the Word of God is to fear God. The fear of God is the refusal to take God for granted; it is the refusal to take His Word for granted.

Deuteronomy 6:24 says,

And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

Obeying the statues or commandments of the Lord equals fearing the Lord.

This means, when you obey or do His Word, you acquire and manifest His fear. When you connect His Word, you acquire His fear. And when you acquire His fear, you step into good. You know, His goodness is the reason for your preservation.

Take note of this: If you don’t do His Word, you can’t fear Him. And if you don’t fear Him, it is not for your good. When you don’t fear God, good is absent from your life, and your preservation is not guaranteed.

Remember this: To exist in the fear of the Lord is to govern your life by the rules of God.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make the fear of God your priority in life.
  2. Make up your mind to govern your life by the Word of the Lord.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I receive Your Help to govern my life by the dictates of Your Word, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: When a person’s name is neat, his character is neat and his integrity is neat. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Acts 28-Romans 2

REFLECTION: The Fear of God is connected to the flow of God and the fleeing of evil. God cannot be present if His fear is absent.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Receive the grace to do His Word and a new baptism of the fear of the LORD in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna – Justice Delayed

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 14 November 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Justice Delayed

TOPIC: Justice Delayed

TEXT: 2 Samuel 3:31-39

31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.

32 And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

34 Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.

35 And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.

36 And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.

37 For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.

38 And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

39 And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the Lord shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

KEY VERSE: “And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.” – (2 Samuel 3:39)

MESSAGE:

Horace Gray, former associate justice of the US supreme court once told a man who had appeared before him in a lower court and had escaped conviction on a technicality: “I know that you are guilty and you know it. And I wish you to remember that one day you will stand before a better and wiser judge, and that there you will be dealt with according to justice and not according to law.”

The passage under consideration reveals King David’s reaction to the revengeful killing of Abner, the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, by Joab and his brother, Abishai. Abner was murdered for killing Asahel their brother. Abner had visited David in Hebron with the intention of unifying all Israel under his kingship. When on his way back, Joab sent messengers to bring him back under pretence and had him stabbed to death. David wanted all Israel to know that the order to kill Abner did not come from him; he therefore ordered all present to accompany Abner’s remains to the grave, with himself joining the funeral procession and making lamentations over him with fasting.

Joab, according to the law, should have been put to death for this fragrant violation. But he escaped because of his power and influence as commander of the army at this time. David could not enforce the law because Joab and his brothers were too strong for him. Any attempt to bring Joab to justice could spark a division in the army and destabilise the nascent regime of David. But justice delayed is not justice denied. The long arm of the law eventually caught up with Joab who was executed by the hand of Benaiah through the order of Solomon (1 Kings 2:29-34).

No matter how long it takes, those who do evil cannot escape divine justice. The only way out is genuine repentance and restitution.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
No matter how long, justice will be served.

Ezekiel 9-13
